Strangford · 整套民居 · 2室2床1.5卫 · 可住4人 · The Bolthole at Strangford Lough
The Bolthole in Strangford is a small cosy home located in one of Northern Ireland's beautiful coastal villages. The house dating from the early 1800's, with a later extension, has living, dining and kitchen area, two bedrooms and bathroom. There are great views across Strangford Lough to the coastal village of Portaferry. Strangford village is a great location near historic houses, castles and the Mourne mountains. It has great restaurants, pubs and perfect for Game of Thrones enthusiasts. The Bolthole makes a great location for people wanting to relax and feel 'away from it all' while staying in a quiet village and being within walking distance of the coast and great places for eating and drinking. Whilst the house is small, it is comfortable and cosy, ideal for two people having a bedroom each, a family or a couple plus one though two couples, at a squeeze! Given the property is almost 200 hundred years old, the ceilings are high and facing east/west means there is plenty of early morning and late evening light. The kitchen is well equipped with cooker, microwave, large fridge/freezer and cutlery/crockery. The dining area is comfortable for four people and there is outside space at the front and an enclosed area back of the house. The two bedrooms have comfortable beds, drawers and wardrobe space, one room has a double bed and the other a queen bed. The stairs are open and the bathroom, situated on the upstairs landing, has an electric shower, wash basin and toilet. Bedding, towels, shower gel and shampoo are all provided. The house makes an ideal space for people who like to walk, bird watch, draw/paint, write, read and generally relax. There is information about the local attractions, history of the area and events taking place while you are staying. There are also a selection of board games and books for the guests use. The house has Wifi and deliberately no TV!
The cottage was absolutely beautiful, it was tastefully furnished & was bright, clean. Kate was a wonderful host & always responded immediately to any messages sent... The view of Strangford lough, was beautiful, I would happily return, to this beautiful cottage...
The Bolthole was a beautiful place to stay in a gorgeous location with glorious views of Strangford Lough from the living room and the main bedroom. Shops, restaurants and the ferry to beautiful Portaferry a few minutes walk away. Kate was so welcoming to her lovely, cosy house right in the centre of the charming village of Strangford and Kate could not have been more helpful and generous - thank you Kate. Lots of information of places to visit within the area. Looking forward to returning very soon to this little gem of a house in a great location. We would highly recommend The Bolthole.
Another great stay at The Bolt Hole, beautiful house in such a convenient location. Kate is a great host & keeps this house to the highest of standards.
A weekend in Kate's adorable house in lovely Strangford was exactly what we needed. It felt perfect for two of us though it can accommodate four. Absolutely every amenity is provided. The house is very clean, warm and comfortable and boasts two (!) outdoor areas with a fantastic view of the harbour and the lough. Numerous pubs and eateries are within a couple of minutes' walk. Kate was very patient when we were delayed because of road works and we found her to be a very personable host. Highly recommended.
Strangford, from the old Norse meaning 'strong fjord' is a pretty village with a small harbour that is over-looked by rows of 19th century cottages and a fine Georgian terrace. It is well served by local shops, hairdresser, several pubs and restaurants producing high quality menus.
Places of interest include the 16th century Strangford Castle, Castleward an intriguing mansion built in 1760 and includes wonderful stables and courtyard in stunning grounds where walks through the forest, along the shore and through meadows are well signposted. The 15th century Audley's castle is also within walking distance from the village and Game of Thrones enthusiasts will know this area as the setting for Winterfell.
Strangford village is a great location as a holiday base where you can visit many interesting and scenic places by foot, ferry and car. There are many attractions close by such as the aquarium in Portaferry, Killyeagh Castle, Mount Stewart historic house and gardens, Downpatrick museum and St Patrick's grave, Newcastle, Tollymore forest and the mountains of Mourne, the fishing village of Ardglass, the ancient monastic site at Nendrum and visit the wetland reserve at Castle Espie where Ireland's largest collection of native and exotic waterbirds and migrant birds allow you to get close to nature.
There are local bus connections to Downpatrick and Belfast and whilst it is possible to travel to Strangford by public transport, more can be seen if you have your own transport.

I'm an outgoing person working part time in the community and voluntary sector and pursuing creative interests the rest of the time. I've recently moved to a coastal village, I enjoy travelling and like walking particularly by the coast, enjoy music and art related activities. I have an allotment and grow my own fruit and vegetables. I bought a cosy cottage in Strangford and I'm happy for fellow travellers to use the space to relax and chill.
