Such an amazing location, the loch literally on your doorstep. So peaceful. Could have spent hours staring at the surroundings. Beautiful open living room with big windows out to lochside. Kids enjoyed chopping extra firewood. Spotlessly clean. Very well equipped kitchen. Tassimo coffee machine too and handful of pods to get started. Best en suite shower ever - open velux window to the sky. Asda delivery to the start of the private lane was no trouble. No mobile reception in Stronachlachar Trossachs path around north shore of loch Katrine is on the other side of the property. But only traffic really is cyclists and a few walkers. Very very peaceful. We drove our car a single day to get on a bit of the West Highland Way up the east side of Loch Lomond but otherwise plenty of walks and bike rides from the cottage. Would definitely recommend boat to Trossachs and bike hire back to Stronachlachar. Boat will transport your hired bikes back to Trossachs.

Old Smiddy Cottage is one of the most beautifully comfortable places we have ever stayed. I booked this as a surprise for my man’s 40th where we had a lovely family meal at the beautifull dining table. The house was absolutely spotless, higher than hotel clean. The view out every single window is unbelieveable we genuinellh couldn’t believe just how stunning the area is. There are three very spacious bedrooms that were all very comfortable, the house was nice and toasty with the heating on too. With small home comforts such as Sky and netflix on the tv, and the kitchen was full of every applicance and utensil you could ever need. We also went to the cafe across the loch for breakfast, it is a little pricey but to be expected due to location. The house offers beautiful walks and stunning views. Host Carole also sent us clear instructions to find the home and was very helpful. Will definitely book again

A Slice of Scottish Heaven ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Our three-night stay at this charming property left us breathless. The enchanting location feels like stepping into a living painting. Local walks lead through stunning scenery, and there's a delightful cafe and even a loch ferry for those seeking a unique experience. The magical view from the property unfolds like a dream—whether sipping morning coffee or enjoying sunset wine. The property itself is meticulously maintained—clean, well-presented, and thoughtfully designed. The spacious rooms and quality furnishings make it feel like a true home away from home. The well-equipped kitchen made cooking a breeze, and the dishwasher simplified clean up. Host Carole was responsive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect. In summary, this was a slice of Scottish heaven we'll dream of long after returning home. Highly recommended!

Had the most wonderful Christmas here. Words can’t describe the views, the cottage is beautiful and well kept. We had a lot of rain and Carole was swift to reassure us. So many lovely walks , we didn’t let the weather deter us. Couldn’t recommend highly enough. Only thing missing was an indoor Christmas tree, plenty outside though .
