This charming yet spacious cottage was built by a former convict in the late 1800s. It retains much of its original character: jarrah flooring throughout, high pressed metal ceilings, fireplaces and a lovely shady front veranda. The property was lovingly extended in 2011 and features a large modern kitchen/dining area with a 900mm gas range and dishwasher. This listing is for a private room with shared bathroom. The room sleeps two on a comfortable Queen sized bed with memory foam topped mattress. A further bedroom with Queen bed and ensuite bathroom is available to book under a separate listing. Our host Andy gave us a lovely stay with very warm hospitality from her at her beautiful Mrytle historic cottage. We enjoyed exploring York during our stay as well thanks to Andy’s local tips. Her cottage and the private room that Andy offered us were more than perfect for our short stay in York. They were very artistic, spacious, airy with high ceiling, functional with a modern touch at each of the rooms. Andy is such a great host who made and ensured her guests stay comfortably at her cottage. We really appreciated that she offered us to cook at her well-equipped, beautiful and modern kitchen, and a very spacious bathroom just for both of us to use during our stay which were big bonuses. Andy is also a great communicator with whom we liked to chat when she was at her cottage. Free parking on her premises. Even Andy’s cat is as friendly as our host. We do hope that we would have the opportunity of staying at her cottage again some day in the future. We’d highly recommend Andy’s place to the other Airbnb guests.
Andy's place is a lovely old home with modern amenities, it is comfortable ,clean and inviting. Andy made us feel welcome and relaxed and so did her cat.
We had an overnight stay with Andy @Myrtle Cottage. Andy is a great Host. She is very proud of her "Myrtle Cottage". It is a very clean, neat & comfortable place for a getaway. Do it yourself breakfast was a great extra provided with our stay!! We would definitely recommend it!!
The cottage is on a large double allotment in a quiet street on the outskirts of the quaint and quintessentially Australian town of York, Western Australia’s first inland town (current population approx. 3,000) which retains much of its colonial charm and original architecture.
From the cottage, the town centre is 5 minutes away by car or a 20 minute walk. You will need your own transport to explore the greater York area.
There is ample parking on the property (not under cover).

自我介绍
I recently returned to Australia after travelling extensively and living overseas for 30 years, firstly in the USA (Chicago and DC) then in north east Scotland. Being from Queensland, I still technically haven’t completed my round-the-world circuit which was originally only meant to last for a year or two. Rural WA is a wonderful place to live and I feel very settled here although I know the travel bug will never leave me.
