Maire Nui Beach Cottage is located on the South side of the Island directly opposite Maire Nui Gardens & Cafe, on the Beach. Situated on a Marine Reserve "Raui" makes it extra special while on holiday. A cute boutique cottage with cooking & bbq facilities, washing machine, entertainment system, queen and king beds and a special outside bath, as well as your own Kayak to use during your stay and free unlimited WiFi. Our beach cottage is unique and special. Located opposite 7acres of 22years organic garden and with the best beach front view on the island. She is magical!!
A beautiful family cottage made our home away from home so relaxing and welcoming. Hinano and her staff were always very helpful, all the amenities were available to use, close to Charlie’s cafe, Miri beach night markets. The beach on the back door was an added bonus with the use of the kayak and snorkel gear, my kids had a ball in the water and on there kayak. Definitely would recommend the stay
Hinano's place was more than we had expected. Amazing location right on the beach in the best part of Rarotonga. So quiet and relaxing. The place feels like a home and has all the amenities you need and the most beautiful garden to relax in. Hinano is such a warm and welcoming person. We highly recommend this place.
Hinano is a great host with a cottage in an amazing location. The photos only tell half the story. We will be back.
Hinano is a wonderful host and her cottage is the perfect place to stay on Rarotonga. It is right on a lovely beach with fantastic snorkelling. There is a shop and restaurant in easy walking distance, and the Muri Night Market and shops/eateries a little further along. We hired a car this gave us great flexibility. In addition to the cottage, we would recommend a meal at Antipodes, cocktails and a dance at Vaiana's and the beautiful views from the Needle (a sturdy pair of shoes and reasonable fitness needed). A lovely place to relax - can't wait to come back!
For our first time in Rarotonga, Hinano's cottage was an excellent choice. It is a pretty large place actually, with 2 full bedrooms that each have sliding glass doors out onto large the covered patio, as does the living room. The home is well stocked and comfortable and the kitchen large with everything you need. We found that with food prices and somewhat limited stock at the stores that it was better and actually more economical to eat out most meals except some breakfasts. We appreciated the bottle of wine, fresh fruit, little packages of muesli, jug of milk and even the freshly-grated coconut that was provided, as well as coffee and tea. The prime reason for staying here of course is the direct access onto the wonderful white-sand beach that fronts the lagoon. The 2-person kayak was great and we took it out and toured the lagoon, and there's several sets of snorkel masks and fins provided as well that we used several times. There are so many lovely stretches of other beach in either direction from the cottage but this stretch that the cottage is on only sees a few people and you can walk for miles if you wish. You MUST visit the beautiful gardens across the street and have lunch there - their world-famous cheesecake was the best we ever tasted (lemon meringue with ice cream and fresh fruits) as was the lemongrass chicken curry. Overall a great stay and we'd love to come back again for another holiday to the Cooks and stay at this cottage.
We are a very family orientated village (Titikaveka/Tikioki).. our neighbors are all family who sometimes rent their properties too. You will feel comfortable and at home. Swimming is safe in our lagoon with a reef surrounding, the beach is kept more private as the neighbors are family which makes it special.. you meet other tourist passing by on their beach walks which is nice. If its windy on the beach, we love to hide out at our Maire Nui Gardens across the road.. its so peaceful and shelted.
The island is 32km round, its not very big. You can walk to Muri township from our cottage which is a good 30min walk, we dont recommend walking to Avarua township its on the other side of the island. We have the clockwise and anti clockwise busses. If you wish to tiki tour on your own to explore the inland roads we recommend hiring a scooter or a car. You can also hire bicycles on the island to venture around on.
