The Balsley House exceeded our expectations. We can’t imagine a better venue for our micro wedding. Clive is very professional and wonderful to work with. The amenities and attention to detail throughout were exceptional!

I hope you have the opportunity to stay at this magnificent, historic home in Dayton. Our family gathered from all around the country to celebrate out youngest child’s/brother’s graduation from the University Of Dayton. We were fortunate to be the family who found this iconic residence. Clive and his wife have restored the John H Balsley in a manner which would make the renowned Inventor very proud. The rooms are wonderfully appointed - yet comfortable. We gathered in the large kitchen, had family meals in the dining room and played some of the classic games available for use. We were surprised to find a large assortment of beverages and snacks which were there for us to enjoy. No need to bring coffee or tea - the home has a cafe quality coffee, latte, Americano machine. Clive met us upon arrival to introduce us to the features of this home which was a treat. We enjoyed taking walks around the historic neighborhood and found many great restaurants nearby. Dayton parents - don’t miss the opportunity to have your entire family together (which was my son’s favorite graduation gift) when you come for Parent’s Day, Graduation and other events. It is very near the campus.

Words don’t do this house justice. The hosts are incredibly warm and accommodating, and I felt at home before I had even gotten to the house. The house was immaculate and so easy to settle in to. We all found ourselves staring at the walls and woodwork for hours. It’s like the chance to live in a museum! The swing in the upstairs hallway made for a wonderful pensive thinking activity as well! I could really go on for ever about how much this property exceeded every single one of my expectations. If you’re with a group staying in Dayton, do yourself a favor and stay at the Balsley house!

Our stay at Clive’s Airbnb was perfect from start to finish. Clive is an excellent host - so responsive and easy to work with when our plans changed a bit. I thought the house was a bit pricey when I first booked, but needed a home large enough to accommodate our wedding party for our wedding weekend so we went for it. Once we took a tour of the house, I understood the price - it is amazing! It’s spacious and has so many unique features. Each bedroom is large and very comfortable, with a connected bathroom or bathroom right around the corner. We had a blast hanging out at the house and it’s right around the corner from a strip of fun bars and restaurants if you want to venture off the property. I can’t suggest this place enough for an upscale, convenient, fun downtown Dayton experience!

Where do I begin? Clive is, hands down, the most wonderful Air BnB host I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. My husband and I are locals and held our intimate wedding ceremony at the Balsley House with our closest family - to say it was perfect is an understatement. The house is a stunning piece of Dayton History, the modern touches make you feel superior, and the amenities are so thoughtful. Within walking distance to Dayton’s best local shops and restaurants, our family from out of tow. was able to enjoy so much of Dayton within such a short distance. I hope to have the pleasure of working with Clive again in the future.
