Beautiful, picturesque, idyllic. These words aptly describe Jeffin’s Homestay. It’s like you’ve stepped into a green ecosystem which has trees, lake, fish, multiple variety of birds - which has ducks, hens, storks, swans, eagle, multiple kinds of kingfisher. This is how people are supposed to stay tapped in with nature, a part of it. Jeffin is absolutely kind, he offers you privacy, is kind enough to bring food to the deck overlooking the pond every morning for breakfast. He indulges your requests of what you want - we wanted idiappam and coconut milk and told him a day before and voila, it was on our plates. Breakfast is inclusive, if you want dinner, you’ll have to inform him early as his mom cooks and it’s absolutely cheap at 300 per head. But keep in mind you’ll get only veg.(which was not a problem for us). If you want non vegetarian, you’ll have enough restaurants to visit in Kottayam.

The places is exactly as described and shown in pictures. It was very neat and clean. They have a private lake with ducks and swans. Host is very helpful and the place is very serene and peaceful

It’s a beautiful property and the lake stands out to be the centre of attraction. I’d rate it a 5 for location. However, there are a few elements that could be improved. 1. During summer it gets really hot and two aircons felt insufficient. The units acted up during our stay and tripped multiple times due to low voltage. The host said it’s not a regular occurrence. There’s a fairly huge wedge between the doors rendering the units less effective. 2. I personally felt the host could be more interactive (subjective opinion). 3. The approach road is in a dire state. However, the beauty of the place would make up for these shortcomings.
