If the Gateway Getaway is not available and you are a small party and want to book here inquiry with Kelsey about making a reduced cost to stay at the Gateway House at a reduced rate please do.
My husband and I absolutely adored our stay at the Gateway Getaway! Kelsey and Tom were lovely hosts. The loft apartment was the perfect location for our move back to Western Washington. It felt like we were staying in a tree house. In fact, that's what we called it. The location, next to Old Town Issaquah and the I-90 is perfect. The loft is well appointed and exactly as pictured. And if you are into para gliding, there is a view of Poo Poo Point on TIger Mountain out the front windows and parking is just down the road. Since we are relocating to the Issaquah area, we will be recommending your place whenever we need extra space to host friends and family. Thank you again for a wonderful stay!
A beautiful place, even better than photos! Loft is like sleeping in a tree house! Some issues impacted our relaxation: 1. a significant infestation of large, black ants+beetles (Spring hatch, NOT a cleanliness issue); 2. home unheated upon arrival+our confusion about the nature of mini splits (yes, we followed instructions) +unanswered message to host requesting guidance; 3. electronic blinds that kept misaligning, then fell off their mount (with blinds open, you are on full display from the street). Hosts were very responsive on addressing bugs, but treatment takes time and in the meantime we had ants EVERYWHERE. All these different issues cost me effort and energy (and a bit of ick), but I know things/nature happens and I was understanding. The real low point was that after days of these various issues, when I requested help with/ the blinds, communication with the host felt unfriendly and tense, like she was frustrated with US?? This left a bad taste for us.
Such a wonderful space to rest and unwind, the home is luxurious and so comfortable. Kelsey and Tom were so friendly and responsive to any questions. Definitely will be coming back again for a gateway getaway!!
A quiet small neighborhood that is a short walk to town and all tiger mountain hiking trails.
The Getaway is located just 1 mile South of Issaquah’s city center and less than 2 miles from I-90, Seattle’s east / west artery running from the mountains to the sea.
Typical drive time from Sea Tac airport is 25-40 minutes (traffic dependent) and an Uber/Lyft will run you $40-$60 each way (surge price dependent)
Hiking, biking and activities are totally doable without a car especially in the summer months.
The closest bus stop is appx 0.8 miles away and there is a transit center 2.5 miles away.
For hiking outside of Squak and Tiger Mtns, there are literally hundreds of hikable trails within a 40 minute drive of the Getaway.
Closest skiing is 40 min away (Snoqualmie Pass) with Crystal and Stevens running 2-2.5 hours away depending on traffic/weather.

Born and raised in the Seattle area. My wife, Kelsey, is from Montana. We live east of the city in the foothills with our chocolate lab, Whidbey, and now two young boys- Andy and Clay. We love to travel both domestically and internationally and love to check out adventurous non-toursity things on all of our trips. Very laid back, easy going and quiet.
