Clean, bright and full of character, The Hideaway is the perfect Dorset retreat. With a comfy full-size double sofabed in the front room, through to a sumptuous double bedroom with a wardrobe and handy cocktail chairs, The Hideaway offers excellent quality, comfort and value for money. The bathroom offers a gushing shower over a good old fashioned enamel bath to soak away the day. Duvet and pillow protectors are replaced along with covers and cases at every changeover for added hygiene. Central heating with guest access to the thermostat ensures you'll always be warm and cosy. Having been a hair salon and cafe in past lives, 195 High Street has quirky additions like fanlights and a hoarding. The walled garden is a favourite spot to chill out in the evenings, perhaps popping a steak on the bbq. Laundry facilities are available in the ensuite shed(!) - fully safety checked - there's a washer and an airer for you to keep the sand at bay. All washing and drying up stuff is provided along with dishwasher and washing machine tabs. Also 3 towels each, cooking oil, salt and pepper, oven gloves, a bar of soap and a toilet roll are provided. Tea, milk, and instant coffee as well as ground coffee for the French press are all waiting for you and if you let me know you're bringing animal companions there'll be something yummy for them too. The Hideaway is amongst other residential properties and has a Minut decibel monitor to ensure we don't upset our neighbours and noise levels for guests are kept within normal residential boundaries. Parking is usually available right outside but if all spaces are taken there is parking 2 minutes walk away in Priest's Road and further up on the left.
We had a great stay at Nicola's place, everything was lovely and great for a stay in Swanage with our little dog. Great little courtyard, perfect to sit with a drink with pretty pot plants and pretty lights. comfy bed with high quality white bedding, white soft fluffy towels and little extras like milk, biscuits, flowers tea and coffee. appreciated the kind thought of a Anniversary balloon as it was our wedding anniversary weekend. we met Nicola at the end of our stay and she was a lovely friendly lady. would definitely book to go back. love Swanage, nowhere better. Thank you so much 😊
A lovely place to stay, everything just as Nicola had stated. Easy walking distance to the town and beach, all of us loved our stay, and recommended to anyone visiting Swanage.
What a great welcome to the Hideaway! Milk, biscuits and roses a perfect and well recieved touch. The Hideaway is lovely, comfortable, and has all you need. A great location for ambling into town or heading further afield. The only drawback comes with being a ground floor flat, is the noise from a family upstairs!
Our trip was amazing- loads to do and a lovely setting. This was enhanced by the accommodation. Little ones needs were catered for brilliantly, place was spacious and clean and the courtyard garden was lovely to use in the evening. Host was really helpful and communicated everything we needed to know in advance so no further communication was needed during our stay. Would definitely recommend.
Based in the heart of Swanage, the quintessential Victorian seaside town. You have easy access to cafes, shops, pubs, and The Mowlem theatre & cinema, as well as the sheltered, sandy, gently-shelving beach.
Step outside and hear the softly tolling church bells and the toot of Swanage Steam Railway trains which can transport you to hauntingly beautiful Corfe Castle. Swanage is bordered by rolling hillsides with Old Harry Rocks on the northern shores and the Dorset coastal paths stretching right round the bay to Durlston Country Park, well worth a visit, down to Anvil Point Lighthouse.
The cliffs of the Isle of Wight can be seen across the sea and reached by ferry from nearby Poole. As an old quarry town, Swanage's stunning architecture surrounds you. Churches abound and interesting views present themselves at every turn.
There are many interesting places nearby:
Knoll Beach and Studland Bay - 4 miles of sandy beach sheltered by the bay, woodland walks, historic landmarks, and outstanding natural beauty.
Search National Trust Studland Bay,
Internationally renowned Monkey World rescue centre
Peveril Point Lighthouse near Durlston Castle with beautiful walks and scenery.
If you are looking for more beautiful walks see Dorset Wildlife Trust's website and search Nature Reserves. Each Nature Reserve has instructions for a great walk. The Kilwell Nature Reserve is only a 15 minute drive and is very pretty. We want to try the Happy Bottom one next!
The Studland ferry can bring you from Bournemouth or you can drive from the A35 to the A351 through Corfe Castle.
The Purbeck Breezer and Route 40 buses can bring you to Swanage and transport you to local attractions.
Ferries run from Swanage to Poole for day trips and from Poole to Brownsea Island, the Isle of Wight, Jersey and France.
