This is a beautiful bolt-hole from the workaday world. It's a quirky but comfortable former barn, lovingly restored and idiosyncratically extended by the acclaimed theatre director Peter Wood, who passed away in 2016. Now you can enjoy its eclectic style – perhaps relaxing by the carp pond or eating on the patio in the south-facing garden. Your hosts are friendly, knowledgeable and keen to help, whether it's securing a sought-after dining place at the village's Three Horseshoes gastropub or suggesting a suitable nearby dog walk. One tip: be sure to put the right address in before setting off, especially if you're arriving at night - phone network coverage isn't the greatest in that beautiful part of the world... but that can help you relax into this bucolic idyll.

The house and gardens are really special and in a lovely village with a nice pub/restaurant. Saskia was lovely and couldn't be more accommodating. The only downside was the wifi did not work most of the time and there was no phone signal until you got to higher ground outside the village (we are on Vodaphone network). The owners who live in the main house were also very lovely, friendly and laidback about everything.

A truly unique and beautiful property set in a quiet, quaint village. Saskia was friendly, responsive and welcoming throughout our exchanges. Highly recommend.

Very nice and interesting place to stay. Saskia was easy to contact. Three Horseshoes Pub is within walking distance and a real delight. We had a few issues within check in but Saskia sorted this out. Main negative was it could have been cleaner, could definitely use a spring clean.

Saskia was away but Ziggy was very helpful. Friendly and welcoming and let us use her kitchen when the cooker let us down. Lots of little goodies left for us. Eggs, bread, butter, milk, tea and an array of condiments The barn is quirky and delightful although a tad chilly in the lounge/kitchen. Comfortable bed and fabulous shower. Nice pub just up the road playing Motown. What’s not to like 🎶 All in all a very pleasant weekend albeit we had to leave early due to Allan going down with some viral thing😷
