Quiet and private second story suite. Fully equipped to comfortably accommodate up to 6 people. Bernie's is a comfortable home base, with room for everyone to relax after a fun day in the Kootenays. Totally unique setting: stay inside the living quarters of a historic church! Completely renovated to modern standards. It is cozy and warm in here with all modern conveniences. With 3 separate bedrooms, a generous living space, dining area, private laundry and a fully equipped kitchen, there's lots of room for your family/friends/group to come together after an adventurous day in the Kootenays. Only an 8km drive to Rossland and 12.5 km to Red Mountain. This is a great home base if you are planning on spending time in Rossland for skiing/touring, mountain biking (Trail has a few bike trails of it's own too) or just exploring the local mountains any way you like. Plenty (like lots) of off street parking in our generous private parking lot, with a security camera. Bring your trailer, boat, snowmobiles etc, we have room for all of it! Walking distance to downtown Trail (10min): restaurants, groceries, amenities etc. There is a dedicated in-unit washer/dryer for your use. We are pet friendly with some restrictions... please feel free to message us with any questions ** also see policies and rules It is a 1 hour drive to Nelson and also Whitewater Ski Resort. We welcome anyone seeking a clean, comfortable and quiet place to stay.

Couldn’t find any place better than this. We had a great time at Bernard’s place. The rooms are clean and beds are comfortable. Surprisingly to see the kitchen provides all you need (all kinds of seasoning). The host Bernard and Krista are very nice and easy to communicate. Highly recommended this place, price is reasonable and location is very convenient, 15mins drive to red mountain ski and restaurants grocery stores are all nearby. We will definitely come back again.

This was our 2nd stay at this property. We really enjoy the space and it's close to our Red Mountain ski destination. Very clean and comfortable. I would choose to stay here anytime we are staying in the area. We will most likely be back next year.

Bernard’s place was the perfect location for our family of 5 to ski Red Mountain and have a place we looked forward to going back to at the end of the day. It was super comfortable, great parking and convenient to Trail and Rossland.

When it comes to places, Trail is like a "funky thrift shop" full of interesting treasures to be discovered.
Take a walk across the road and up into West Trail, to see some adorable old houses and some of the famous old stone walls that hold them up. (There is a great wall that runs the entire length of Railway lane, directly behind the church!)
Check out downtown Trail, where there is more than meets the eye.. great little shops with gifts, clothing and locally made products from some extremely talented artisans are just some of the surprises. Be sure to pop into Ferraro's Grocery store, our (locally) famous grocer where there are plenty of specialty foods as well as a great selection of standard fare.
The Columbia River runs through the center of town and there are many places to walk alongside it and even over it (!) if you find the Columbia river Skywalk, a pedestrian suspension bridge.
There's even a little walking trail at the entrance to Railway lane, great for a short dog walk, or to get a view over our end of the gulch.
Walking distance to downtown shops, groceries, restaurants and the arena.
We have a huge parking lot for all your vehicles!
There is also a bus stop out front.

That is how we came to be the owners of an old historic church, which we converted into our live/work studio space , and an Airbnb space as well! When we’re not road tripping, we’re happy to be in the Kootenays, and spend as much time possible on our mountain bikes, snowboards and paddle boards , weather permitting ;)
