Glamping campground located in the Agua Fria Ecological Reserve, a private 80 hectare wildlife sanctuary in the middle of the tropical forest of the Western Sierra Madre mountains. Enjoy waking up to the sounds of endangered military macaws and seeing the morning mist engulf your 360° mountain view. We are an ecological, off the grid campground for guests who want to get away from the city and connect with nature. We have solar electricity, collect spring water from our Agua Fria Creek, and use ecological waste water systems. Cell phone signal is weak due to our mountainous location, nevertheless there are certain points in the cabin, kitchen, and entrance to the property that get cell phone signal.
I loved staying at Linda's place. Its a beautiful little cabaña with a cozy bed and chairs. The bathroom and kitchen are outdoors, basic but all functional. Since the owners don't live there, you'll have the entire place to yourself. It is sooo peaceful at night!
Amazing remote little piece of paradise! Linda's a warm and welcoming person. We went for a hike with her and her knowledge of the local area, nature and birdlife is really quite something. It was the perfect break from the busy beaches and if seems like a much better way to experience a "real" piece of Mexico compared to the resort filled coastline.
Linda’s spot was incredible. There was more bird life and natural surroundings than I dreamt of. It felt nicer than ‘glamping’ to me! We loved just sitting out and watching the birds and butterflies. Linda was very responsive and helped us navigate to her place using bus and taxi from the PVR airport.
Linda’s place is simply amazing. It’s by far the most comfortable I’ve been off-the-grid, and I lived off-grid for a couple of years. They really thought of everything and added some beautiful touches to this slice of paradise. When you’re there, you can connect with nature in a beautiful way since there’s nothing else around but you and the amazing local flora and fauna. Yet the quaint town of El Tuito is just a few minutes down the road. Linda is one of the best hosts I’ve encountered, she is kind, responsive, and knows the local area really well. I even had dinner at her beautiful new restaurant in town… so not only is she a great host but she and her partner serve delicious food; the brisket sandwich was awesome! I’m already looking forward to going back!
A hidden gem! Completely in love with this place and would have stayed much longer if I could. The outdoor kitchen and washroom are spacious. Linda was such a lovely host and so helpful. A few tips: You’re in the outdoors so expect some critters, but enjoy connecting with nature! Walk to the river and make a fire at night. The stars are beautiful from here. Would highly recommend!
Our wildlife reserve is located just under 4 kilometers, or 10 minutes by car from the rural, traditional town of El Tuito, Jalisco, Mexico.
Many visitors come in from the bigger, surrounding cities to El Tuito to have countryside-style breakfast and to purchase regionally famous cheeses, a mezcal-type agave liquor called Raicilla, and fresh seafood from its pristine Pacific coast. By day in El Tuito's historic city center, you can find the city call, cafes, restaurants, bakeries, shops, gyms, art galleries, supermarkets for groceries, and a catholic church (there is also a Jehovah's Witness church further towards the main 200 highway). At night, most places close and options are limited to bars, pizza, and taco stands for dinner.
The only walkable destination from the wildlife reserve is Rancho Primavera on Km. 3--a well-known bird sanctuary and horse farm that is open for visitors to come and explore a couple of hours.
There is one bus option to and from the campground in the morning that departs from the catholic church at 9:30 am towards the campground, and one in the afternoon to return to the city center at 3:30 pm. It's not the most ideal way to get around because the bus is old and uncomfortable, so most prefer going back and forth by taxi or a local moto-taxi service for 2 passengers called "Ubercito." There are buses that go to and from the biggest nearby city of Puerto Vallarta every half hour from 5:30 am to 6:30 pm and a new late-night route at 9 pm.
