You told us the day of check-in that the unit was left unlocked because the smart lock wasn’t working. In an urban neighborhood like West Philadelphia (we went to college here) this is a safety issue and as female travelers we did not feel safe entering the unit. Luckily both of us arrived at the same time so we went inside together to look out for each other. This is a basic expectation of any accommodation. Upon entering we noticed that it looked like there had been a huge leak in the room above the bedroom and the ceiling had peeling paint from whatever type of repair was attempted. Peeling paint is a health hazard and the unit also smelled musty, like it had a history of mold. Lastly, the garbage had multiple used sanitary female products and had not been taken out - this is disgusting. Host uses a disrespectful and condescending tone and told us these issues “weren’t of concern” to her.

staying at melissa’s was perfect. it has so many thoughtful touches and character. i appreciated that she also shared history of the space and the neighborhood. everything was exactly as described and melissa was extremely responsive. i also loved having the little yard to sit outside. 10/10 would stay here again!

The space was beautifully decorated! The host was super responsive and has a lot of recommendations for Philly! She really cares about it too which is really nice :)
