What an incredible seven days in paradise. Alexander and Abigail and their entire team made our trip first rate. All the meals were absolutely incredible, fresh and some of the best food we’ve ever ever had. Never a repeat at dinner and were treated to the national dish - Oil Down when requested. So much food! The beach resort itself is so quiet, clean. The only thing you hear is the ocean and the breeze. We stayed in the apt up on the hill and therefore was right beside the Infiniti Poole, a treat after a long day of hiking, exploring this beautiful island and its friendly people. We prefer to stay out of the resorts and touristy areas, so this was gold. The beach area, meals, bar right on the property is perfection, but the kindness and welcoming spirit of everyone and their willingness to make your stay first class, is the reason to return. One of the best vacations we have ever taken. Such a wonderful stay. We are looking to buy property/retirement home on Grenada.
Quiet and rural location at the end of a dirt road, right above the sea. Unfortunately very exposed to the constant winds from the east making the studio uncomfortable. Internet connection weak and erratic at the studio. The studios are managed by the staff of the lodge below on behalf of the owner living abroad. No special attention nor welcome drink. Basic installations in kitchen and bathroom not justifying the high price requested.
We enjoyed our stay at the lovely studio at Cabier. The private pool (reserved for those in the 2 studios and the villa) was divine. The unit is well equipped for self catering. Our request for extra pillows was accommodated well (I have a bad back). Make sure to bring essentials for your first night/morning if you won’t have access to shopping right away (shampoo, conditioner, soap, etc...). The bed and pillows are very firm. Also, download Netflix or movies ahead of time if you wish. The wifi is not strong enough to stream. There is no T.V. There are plenty of books and a lovely ocean sound which is nice. :) If you have the opportunity to rent the ocean view studio or the bigger villa we would recommend that over the one we had but we didn’t really know that until we got there and ours was still very nice; those are just better view wise. The villa is also huge compared to the two studios. Alex and Abigail were the perfect hosts. Ex: They stayed up late for us to cook and serve us a lovely meal when our flight was late (approx 10p.m. meal!). We can’t tell you how much we appreciated that. Alex also lent us a cooler so we could get some items for self catering and drinks and whatnot during the week (we had a rental) and that was soooo helpful! This side of the island is always windy compared to the east side so it affects snorkelling and swimming in the bay (low visibility and tons of seaweed). That being said, it kept all of the bugs away so we couldn’t complain! :) Other weeks of the year may be different also (we stayed 1st week of Feb). This side of the island is more authentic than the East side (we are in the east now). On the Cabier/West side you experience all of the local life. You need to be the type of traveller that can handle that. Ex: the roads are windy, very hilly and just barely wide enough for two vehicles. It’s a factor to consider whether or not you have a rental if you get scared in those situations. We don’t. The tourist spots will be unique and likely solo or close to it (ex: we went to Mt. Caramel falls - 5 min from the hotel - paid a local $10 to show us how to find them and ended up swimming in a beautiful waterfall pool completely alone). It was magic. There are minimal tourists around; which is very cool. The food in the stores isn’t North American; you need to be open minded and get creative when self-catering. We had fun. Most items are fairly expensive. Almost everything is Grenada is 15-20% more than other Caribbean islands we have been to (Bermuda, Bahamas, Jamaica, Antigua, etc...). The restaurant meals even more so ($50-60CAD for fish, veggies and rice with one beer). Unless, you get a delicious Roti from down the road for $4 each!? The cleanliness in the Roti establishment is questionable but the Roti’s were incredible. Try them. The Cabier restaurant food was above average for everywhere we ate on the North/West side except for Atma Island (more $$ there though). If you are cognizant of cost, make sure to ask for the price of drinks and meals before you eat. Not posting prices until it’s time to pay is the norm on this side of the island. Overall, we are very happy with our stay at Cabier. It is NOT a resort experience and that is its charm. Listen to the ocean breeze, have fun cooking together and relax. :) Thanks!
We loved this accommodation! Amazing location (although you will need a car), lovely apartment and an infinity pool with a view. We self-catered for a week and the kitchen had everything we needed for that. Staff at the hotel was very friendly and the one meal we enjoyed at the restaurant was very tasty. The studio was very clean and the daily cleaning service much appreciated.
