We booked the Stable Suite for mailt members over Xmas. It met our needs perfectly. Lovely rooms, service. Breakfast included and cute stocking left outside the door Christmas Day.

The building and location are lovely, as is the high street and the charming bar/restaurant. Unfortunately nobody told us there would be parties and events on, so the car park was unusable and an event was setting up at 0730 right by our windows. The receptionist tried to help but it still meant 4 hours sleep! The accommodation was beyond quirky. The “sitting areas” is no such thing. There was a day bed in an alcove (with trundle bed so could sleep 6) and the only place to sit was 4 odd bar chairs lined up against a shelf with a long mirror. The 2nd small bedroom was tiny and unloved with just a cheap picture and lamp A shame - if there’d been a usable living space with a sleeper sofa and some design or care we’d go back. Nice toiletries and Nespresso too.

It had all the advantages of a hotel stay (e.g. breakfast, all-day opening hours to get information etc once there, hotel-type cleaning) but with the privacy of your own suite. Three of us - all independent - fitted in well to the space

We had a lovely one-night stay at the Kings Arms. The Stable Duplex was as described, perfect for us and our son and his family. Plenty of welcoming touches included in the accommodation (wine, biscuits, snacks), and the breakfast was delicious!
