My husband & I bought the property in late August 2017 and were married in our yard in July 2018. In the short time we've owned our home we have done a tremendous amount of work both inside and outside! The home was built in 1972, by the Rudderhams; where they raised their children, and eventually added a guest house to accommodate extended family members. Many years later, the home was mostly vacant, until we purchased it. We have a beagle named Cookie, and a horse named Bailey. After the wedding, we fenced in the property and converted the garage into a small stable. We love our little funny farm! Our guesthouse was first listed in June of 2018, and we weren't sure how busy it was going to be. We were pleasantly surprised at the number of guests we had, and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience, so far. I think Airbnb is a win for both the host and the guest. Small communities benefit from the added flow and it doesn't break the bank for guest accommodations. Since we opened we have made some improvements to the space and will continue to make them, to ensure our guest's overall satisfaction. While we appreciate feedback, from our guests, we would like to remind you that the entire property needed a lot of work (time & money). The upgrades to the guesthouse happen as we can afford them. We did not build it. The windows don't allow for a portable air conditioner, and installing a $5000 heat pump in the first year of operation just wasn't an option. Some recent improvements include painting the exterior and replacing the roof. We also ran into an issue with a nesting bird, and as a result, we could not finish the small rotted section above the deck. When her babies left the nest our listing was booked solid, so we decided to patch it for the time being. The deck was painted (summer 2020) but needs to be touched up in the heavier traffic areas, however, the summer was incredibly busy and now this will have to wait until next spring. The most important improvement we plan to make for summer 2023 is a heat pump and new windows. One of our favourite parts about living in Point Edward, aside from it being the ideal location for us, is the beautiful sunsets.
