I had the honour and privilege of staying at Salim’s place. Honestly, I’ve never seen 2 weeks pass by so quickly. I felt really relaxed and at peace. Salim’s place felt more homely than my own home. You wouldn’t want to go back once you spend a few days here with the family and pets. If you really want to experience something authentic and real, this is the place. There’s so much to do at the farm like feeding cattle, gardening, being a part of the community and visiting nearby houses, cycling to the historical palace and mosque nearby, spending time at the river banks and other places around. The homecooked meals are always delicious and you’ll be surprised by your own appetite. I can probably publish an entire blog on how amazing of a host Salim is. Ps: he also has an amazing collection of books. Pps: he paints and sings really well, and is a walking encyclopaedia on local culture, constellations, history, and more. I just can’t wait to be back and spend more time!

If you want an authentic experience in Ladakh, this is the right place for you. Salim's family is very warm and welcoming. They help you with whatever wish you might have. The room is very comfy, I had a great sleep. The bathroom is basic, do not expect western hotel like facilities. Homemade meals were very tasty and affordable. Salim speaks excellent English and has a good knowledge of local area as well as a great sense of humour. If he tells you he can't play chess, don't believe him.

If you're looking for an experience in self-sustenance through subsistence farming, and living as locally as possible with a typical Ladakhi family, in a gorgeous traditional home, this place is perfect for you! A beautiful, warm and loving family that lives almost completely off their own land will spoil you with vegetables straight out of their 100% organic garden, dairy from their own cows, handmade bread by the Mama of the family and a feeling of never wanting to leave... ever! It's a haven for tired travelers as the family's priority (I felt) is to heal you; body and soul; with food, teas, laughter, stories and love. If you want to get involved, there's always something to do outdoors: gardening, gathering cow feed, feeding the animals and much more. A bonfire and roasted potatoes at night in the garden, and a telescope to stargaze, life here is truly paradise. Papa of the family built the place little by little over a course of many years and they worked very hard on it. He brought 1-inch trees and plants from Leh, Srinagar and Kashmir on his motorbike and planted them one by one, converting a dry desert area into a lush green land and functioning farm. Super clean place, amazing organic food, exceptional hosts who open not just their home but also their hearts to each and every guest; Amir Homestay has been an incredible life-changing experience and we highly recommend it to those of you who are looking for similar experiences, because we would go back and do it all over again without a second thought. its a wow home stay ... much better than what i expected it to be ... salim as a host is super amazing and as a person really great . he made me have such an amazing experience that i can never ever forget it , be it wow tasty food or star gazing ...everything simply wow ... highly recommended for people looking for raw Leh experience . The scenic beauty of nearby mountains is just amazing and even Indus flows just 10 minutes walking . Its the place that fills all the expectations for a real Leh stay .
