Great hospitality, nice place, leh is easily accessible by a bus that goes every hour, so the distance is not an issue at all.

The house is located 9 km from the Airport. It is in a village called Saboo, which itself is 8 km south of Leh. There is prepaid taxi facility at the airport, it will cost you around Rs 500 and it is not difficult to reach the place. Make sure to ask for the local phone number so that the taxi driver can directly call them and ask for directions in case he is unsure. You can cook your meals in the kitchen, the basic utensils are provided and there is a grocery store right below the building. There’s a refrigerator, a TV, a heater and several charging sockets. They provide toiletries and the entire place is clean. You can see signs of woodwork and paint in places that detracts from a hotel like atmosphere but gives you a homely feel. I had nothing to complain about at the price. Even though it says no heating, the Host father informed me that they had installed solar heaters and there will be hot water when it was sunny. That was a pleasant bonus. The place is spacious, the balcony reveals a wide view of the landscape. Although you can say that for almost every place in Leh, the view is breathtaking. I spent a week there and I enjoyed a different ‘flavor’ of the scene at different times of the day. It is far from the main market, you will have to spend time and money every time you want to visit the town of Leh. Alternatively, the local market of the village of Saboo is nearby and accessible by walk. It would be advisable to rent a vehicle if you are planning to give yourself mobility. There is a restaurant downstairs. Unfortunately, we did not get to taste a lot of the food there, partly because on some days I was traveling and had my meals outside and on the other days I made my own. The food that I tried was delicious, filling and reminded me of home. The prices are on par with what you will see anywhere else in Leh and nearby. We have enough of the sophistication of cities and the noise of modernity everyday. What I was looking for on my trip to Leh was natural beauty and some peace of mind. I received ample of both. This might not be the place for you if you like to be in the heart of the city and enjoy having a hectic schedule on your vacations. If you like quiet, and you are looking for a base away from the clamour, you find this place speaking to your heart. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Realistically, I wish to visit again but I might not. But I will surely recommend this to my friends and family.

This is a homestay and you are definitely touched by the warmth of the host. The caretaker couple's are very loving, kind and extremely helpful. Their genuine care and hospitality makes you feel at home. The lady (didi) cooked amazing ladakhi food and none of the menu repeated in four days of our stay with them. The rooms are well furnished with all basic amenities (TV with Tata sky dth, Fridge, heater on request, storage racks including a full-fledged kitchen. Guests have an option to cook. Though there's no wifi/broadband, Airtel, BSNL services are quite good. Overall a great unexpected experience....would strongly recommend to family and friends.
