The location is absolutely perfect if you’re looking for a house a little more remote. There are a few neighbours nearby and a friendly, cosy pub within a 15 minute walk. If you go, take the time to admire the port itself you will hopefully see the seals basking in the haven of the calmer waters and on the rocks. The house itself is as per the photos and is well equipped with everything you will need for cooking and cleaning up afterwards. There is even a washing machine with plenty of detergents if you forget to bring your own. This was ideal to spin dry our wet towels and swimming gear after our many dips in the beautiful waters around the island. There is a lovely little sandy cove a few minutes walk from the house. The beds were comfy and if you’re sharing the house with others be sure to bags one of the rooms at the back of the house that have stunning sea views including the lighthouse. We had a fabulous time and the house was perfect for our group of 7 friends.

My sisters & 1 enjoyed a lovely stay at 2 Claddach. William is a very attentive host who welcomed us personally and gave us tour of the house. The house was like a home from home, very comfortable and cosy with a great open fire. We know the area well so we were aware of it’s coastal situation but, oh my, to be able to stay in a property with such close proximity to the sea was amazing. We loved it. WiFi was an issue but not one that disrupted our stay.

What a beautiful cottage, in amazing surroundings. William was a brilliant host, very responsive and met us at the property to help show us around. We enjoyed a magical week pottering around the beaches (which are only a stones throw from the cottage) and exploring the island. The cottage feels like home from home with everything you need. The views from the sitting room are breath taking and we spent hours watching the seals, birds and boats. Portnahaven is not far away and the harbour was great for the kids. With plenty of seals, birds and weather to watch the holiday flew by. We can’t wait to come back and explore the island even more.
