We always appreciate a quiet place to vacation and get away from it all. The Byre at Pyper’s Pond afforded us all we asked for in our vacations to Coastal Maine.

Helen was a wonderful host! We enjoyed spending time around the farm and watching the animals in the pasture from our kitchen window. The space was quiet and private and in a great location, just a short drive to Damariscotta. The kids loved the cattle, the sheep, and chickens. Jeff gave us a tour of the farm and was always a friendly welcome as we came and went. Location, location, location. I could not recommend more for a farm retreat away from the noise of town.

This place is amazing. We loved watching the farm animals throughout the day (visible from the kitchen) and visiting with them. The baby cattle and chicks are SO cute. The local area is full of amazing hikes and views, and there is a great food co-op nearby, and several places to get fresh seafood (which was excellent). For how remote it looks, we found Bristol to be better serviced than the area around Acadia! The place also has a ton of space (more than it looks like) and a great layout for spending time there when you're not out. The internet connection is fast and reliable, worked great for Zoom meetings/video conferencing and streaming.

This is a large space on two levels with a full kitchen, two baths, sleeping area, dining area and living room. It is a converted barn with all modern amenities. It is right in the middle of a working farm with plenty of chickens, ducks, cattle, sheep, and dogs. Jeff took us on a tour, where we got to meet the cattle and sheep up close. The dogs are friendly as were our hosts. We had a very pleasant four night stay being in town for a family wedding.

This was our second stay at Byre Farm and we are already planning our next! The accommodations are clean, spacious and very inviting. A picture window above the kitchen sink allows you to look out onto the main field where there are Highland Cattle, chickens, geese and the herd protecting dog. We enjoy making our morning coffee and watching the animals come down from the field to be fed. The owners are very nice and fun to talk with, providing a wealth of information about the farm, the animals, the sights around Bristol, good restaurants to try and more. We typically cook half our meals at the Airbnb. The Farm sells seasonal items such as wild blueberry jam made at the farm. They also sell various meats from surrounding farms, and mutton raised on their farm. The mutton is incredible, we made a mutton barley stew that we’re still talking about! We went to Booth Bay Harbor for wood-grilled lobsters and local oysters on the half-shell. It just doesn’t get any better.
