amazing accomidations
Nice clean AirBNB in the heart of Rochester nightlife, with some small issues you should be aware of before staying. The loft unit is nice, and just as described. All the normal stuff (appliances, bedding, towels, laundry, parking, etc is all good). There are a few things to know however: 1) The walls in this building are shockingly thin. I’ve stayed in a lot of old renovated buildings like this, but I’ve never been in one where you can hear everything from neighbors and in the hall like this one. They must have really skimped on any sound proofing when renovating. This was exasperated by an insanely loud construction project coming from below me all day starting at 7:45am on my second day in the unit. Lewis apologized and said this shouldn’t have happened, but nonetheless it did and was crazy loud, as were other times when I heard yelling kids in other apartments or people loud in the hallways late at night. 2) I had to pay a parking fee of $50 which was disclosed and is totally fine, but it was a bit weird that I was told I had to go to the host’s house and leave cash in a mailbox to do so. I asked to use PayPal or Venmo but that request was just ignored. I didn’t have exactly $50 (because I had to get $20’s from an ATM), so I left $60. I told the host this, but no attempt to get me the $10 extra back was ever taken. 3) This building has an entire floor of “aparthotels” like this, but I am wondering if this is new since there was an odd vibe and other people in the building often seemed surprised to see me there. This was no more evident than when a women actually screamed when the elevator opened and I was in it, then proceeded to yell at me and ask what I was doing in the building. This isn’t the host’s fault obviously, just thought it worth mentioning this weird vibe.
