My stay at the Wainright House was absolutely great! I did 3 nights there and could not have asked for a more comfortable, secure, quiet, lovely space to return to after my brief tour around Lake District. Shirley and David - are incredible hosts. They were generous with their care and attention to detail. Their know-how about the area made my trip so much more fruitful and they always looked out for me. As a lone-traveller in a brand new area, this meant a lot. They are located in a safe neighbourhood which is strategically accessible to the train/bus stations and restaurants on the high street. Big love for this place and I hope I get to go back!

David and Shirley are so kind and welcoming. They’re also very helpful when it comes to any questions you may have. The place is very clean and quiet. There are brochures to help you plan your stay and even board games. I would absolitely stay here again.

The house was lovely, clean and quiet. David and Shirley are such nice people, have been so thoughtful, helpful, giving me many ideas on where to go and what to visit, made delicious bespoke breakfast every morning at the time you specified and were always available and responsive. This made my stay just really smooth. On a particularly rainy day where I was soaked they immediately offered to dry my clothes when I was back. The places they recommended were breathtaking and I can’t thank them enough, because I would have hardly thought about these places or found them on the internet. If you’re travelling alone like me, for safety reasons they would ask you before you go to write down where you’re about to go hiking to keep track of the time you said you’d be back so they can contact you or your emergency number if you didn’t come back (like if you’re breaking your ankle in the middle of nowhere without internet connexion). This brought me peace of mind. I couldn’t recommend that place enough if you’re looking for a quiet, calm place with lovely owners.
