Enjoy a memorable visit when you stay in this unique eighteenth century building at the heart of the village of Hesket Newmarket. The village has a famous community pub, the Old Crown, a shop and a brewery. It is a great base for exploring the Northern Fells or for a stop on the Cumbria Way. The Coach House has been a court room, musical instrument workshop and garage. It became a house in the 1980s and was renovated in 2023 to make a comfortable holiday home. The front door leads into the sitting room which has a comfortable Parker Knoll sofa and chair and a Sony smart TV. The well equipped kitchen leads off the sitting room. It has a washing machine, microwave, induction hob and oven. There is a dining table and chairs. Stairs lead up from the sitting room to the landing where there is a desk and chair. The double bedroom has views down the village street and up to the hills beyond. The bed has an award-winning Emma mattress. There is a chest of drawers and a hanging space. The bathroom has a quadrant shower. The house has eco radiators and thick fitted capets.

Stayed for six nights. Already knew the area well - it’s a hidden gem with stunning countryside and places to walk nearby, and would heartily recommend the cooperative pub in the village for food, and music on Mondays. The Coach House suited us well. All very clean. Great shower, comfy bed, well equipped kitchen which was a delight to cook in. And enough space for our stuff. Handy for us to have a washing machine as had already been travelling a while. Ian and Carol were helpful and responsive. And left a map and some interesting books about the locality.
Lovely property, very clean, warm and all you need for a comfortable stay. The facilities were excellent and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The location is great for exploring the lakes, the village itself is pretty, with a pub and shop (albeit limited stock). I'd definitely recommend this place for couples and singles.

Hesket Newmarket is an historic village in the Lake District. It has a famous community owned pub (visited by King Charles), a craft brewery, a village shop and a children's playground.
Hesket is a great base for walking, whether you are aiming to bag some Wainwrights or hiking the Cumbria Way, which passes about a mile away. The area is popular with fell runners, mountain bikers and climbers.
The larger village of Caldbeck is 1.5miles away and you can walk there through meadows and woods along the river. Keswick, Carlisle and the Solway Coast are each about 30 minutes drive away.
Public transport is limited, so you will need a car, a bike or good strong legs to get around.
There is ample free parking in the village and it is nearly always possble to park outside the front entrance.
