Jen and I are delighted to host The Byre, which is a recently renovated, self-contained 3-storey sandstone cottage unit in a courtyard setting adjoining our house. We live deep in beautiful Cumbrian countryside with fine views to the North Pennines and Lakeland Fells - ideally positioned for the Lake District National Park, with the charming villages of Hesket Newmarket and Caldbeck just minutes away. The Eden Valley, the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Hadrian’s Wall Country are also easily accessible, as are the historic border city of Carlisle and the charming market towns of Penrith and Keswick. The Space Three very generously proportioned and characterful beamed rooms are tastefully furnished to a high standard. Guests will find • Fully equipped ground floor kitchen, including dishwasher, washing machine, microwave etc., with farmhouse table and chairs • First floor double bedroom, with king bed, easy chairs and bathroom off. A short flight of stairs takes you to - • Second floor lounge, furnished with double sofa bed, TV, easy chairs, coffee table. A foldaway z-bed and travel cot are also available. Guest access: We are only 15 minutes off the M6 (J41 and J42), approached by minor roads and country lanes. Penrith is 15 miles, Carlisle 9 miles. There is car parking immediately adjacent to the cottage, from which there is single step access into the kitchen/dining room. Bedrooms, TV and lounge seating are all upstairs. Reserved and protected patio areas in courtyard and access to nearly 3 acres of mature garden. Things you should know before booking: • Minimum stay 3 nights • Wifi is free - but not fast! (so - download films before you arrive!) • No smoking • No dogs or other pets • The immediate approach to the property is via country lanes and involves skirting the neighbouring farm – there will be surface mud in wet weather. • The cottage is not suitable for the mobility-impaired.
