Have an entire apartment to yourself within Port MacDonnell's iconic 1862 Customs House. The original Policeman's Residence is a 2-Bedroom, two-storey self-contained apartment overlooking the harbour - watch the local fishing fleet head out to sea from your window, and fall asleep to the ocean's roar. Local cafes, the pub, supermarket, chemist and library are all within walking distance of this unique and private escape. This 2BR self-contained apartment features two upstairs bedrooms with a Queen bed in one room and 2 x King Single beds in the second bedroom. Downstairs you'll find the well-appointed kitchen & a bathroom with separate shower, spa bath and laundry. The cosy sitting room opens onto a walled courtyard where you can enjoy breakfast and happy hour overlooking the boats.

Beautiful building and easy check in
It was a pleasure staying at this charming accommodation, boasting so much history! Gretel and Andy made us feel most welcome. The apartment and grounds we were in awe of. We are so glad that the heritage-listed Customs House is in amazing, local hands with a vision to keep it restored and on the top of attractions to see & stay at in quaint Port MacDonnell. It was the first time we have travelled to the Limestone Coast of South Australia and wished we could stay longer. I would recommend staying here especially for couples & families who appreciate 'going back in time'. Furthermore, our apartment (of two) had a corner spa-bath, as an added bonus! ~ Simone & Austin (VIC)

You will be able to walk everywhere when you stay at the Policeman's Apartment, with cafes, the pub, supermarket, chemist, library, jetty, playground and skatepark all within an 800-metre radius (or less!).

Hi there...I'm a journalist, my husband is a lobster fisherman, and we also raise beef cattle on our farm by the sea. In our 'spare' time, we love to travel, and we also love renovating. The Customs House at Port MacDonnell is certainly our biggest project to date. We are honoured to be the custodians of such an iconic building, and look forward to sharing it with others.
