The space was for the most part unproblematic. The only major issue I had was with Jason/the host. While the checkout time was on the listing, there was nothing indicating that I’d have to pay $50/hour to checkin early. With a 4pm checkin, this added up to an entire extra night’s stay. Coordinating this checkin (aside from the unreasonable and hidden fees) was nearly impossible. Jason was rude and made me feel uncomfortable the whole stay. Ultimately, I made it to the Aribnb and couldn’t even find the entrance. I only did because the cleaning staff was there. I asked if I could leave my belongings (including expensive and delicate instruments) inside and use the bathroom quickly and they agreed. I then went about my day, but Jason said he has seen me on a camera (?) and threatened to have Airbnb charge my account and put it on hold if I didn’t pay a $100 early checkin fee. On top of all that, the bar next door played loud music all throughout my entire stay, including all night. Bad.
Jason's place was exactly as described! The entire building felt very secure as you needed to swipe through two sets of locked doors to get to your own. The kitchen was very clean and came with a coffeemaker, Maxwell House ground coffee beans as well as a stack of coffee filters, instant creamer and sugar. There was plenty of silverware and a dishwasher. The bathroom was clean, had a hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner. There was also an iron available. I appreciated the memory foam mattress (super comfy!). But the location I think was the best part. There were many cool restaurants, bars and cafes nearby for anything that you want (I loved the nearby Sazerac bar with Mexican food cart and the nearby Kahvi cafe for the morning). It felt both vibrant and safe at the same time. Jason was also a super-responsive host, always making sure that my questions were answered, and helped me get back inside when I locked myself out. A stellar stay. I hope to be back in the future.
Enjoyed that window with the AZ summer sunrises and sunsets. Overall, decent stay with some inconvenient blips.
