Welcome To APPLE TREE COTTAGE Here you will find a recently renovated mid terrace property with anthracite 1/2 Georgian bar windows with matching composite front door - to the back of the property the windows are the same with patio doors and grey render to the exterior. Most of the windows are dressed with faux wood grey venetian blinds. On the lower ground you will find the fooring throughout of Karndean select oak luxury flooring in planks boasting the spectacular shade of summer oak. Into the front door leads you to the well lite entrance porch (mind the step) leading into a spacious living room that has a large corner sofa with contrasting cushions with a matching separate chair and pouffe an entertainment wall holding a 65” smart TV and a colour changing glowing log effect electric fire for cosy nights, aztec curtains ornaments and a lamp. From here you wander into the dining room which is fitted with a solid oak dining table and 4 matching dining room chairs with a matching solid oak sideboard. Sitting on the side board you will find a large chrome mirror, 2 lamps and a vase of artificial flowers to set the theme. Opposite the oak sideboard is a very welcoming log burner with a solid oak beam resting above making the mantle. Double patio doors lead you to the block paved outside area. From the dining room you enter into the kitchen where the fully fitted Cashmere handless gloss kitchen provides a very welcoming space. In here you will find integrated appliance such as fridge freezer washing machine dishwasher. There is a single fan oven, halogen hob and an extractor fan. The theme is black and wood where the microwave kettle & accessorises all flow in nicely. There is an anthracite sink with a grey grained worktop to compliment the units. The staircase runs though the middle of the property which has carpet on the tread and Karndean luxury vinyl planks on the riser. From the stair case leads you to a small landing leading off to the right is the master bedroom which boasts a superking bed dressed with crisp white bedding 2 white and 2 navy blue pillowcases 2 towels with a navy face cloth draped over placed on a navy throw to compliment the white bedding, the bed has a tall grey modern headboard, a cushion is sat in the middle of the pillowcases that matches the 2 bedside lamp shades. The lamps sit on grey bedside drawers with veneer tops which is part of the set in the room. This is comprised by a set of drawers and a dressing table hanging space is provided. In the corner of the master bedroom you will find a large chrome floor standing mirror a comfy chair a side table and some books/magazines to enjoy a quiet moment if needed. The supering bed divides into two 3ft single beds if required. Across the landing is the 2nd bedroom which has the same style bedside drawers and two similar lamps at the sides of a king size bed which too is dressed the same as the master room. Hanging space is provided. The bathroom is across the landing comprising of a double ended bath positioned in the middle of the wall with floor standing black tap and a shower head. There is a shelf to accommodate the toilitries at the side of the bath. The toilet and sink is fitted on a grey high gloss unit with solid wood tops - a tall black tap stands over the sink. Their is a corner black matt shower with sliding doors and a shower with a large shower head and a small hand held shower inside the shower is fully tiled in white with anthracite grout most of the surrounding walls are the same. The floor is tiled and there is a steam free light up circular mirror above the sink. There is interconnecting smoke alarms in all rooms where required by law a carbon monoxide detector is situated on the side of the chimney breast - all doors are solid wood and the dining room door at the foot of the stairs is a fire door with an intumescent stripe fitted for extra safety. Locks are thumb turn for easy exit if needed and plug in battery back up lights are provided for the fire exit route. Fire risk is complete Cornsay Colliery is a populous village situated on a hillside on the north bank of the Dearness, Seven and a half miles west of Durham, and two miles west of Esh. It is partly in the township of Esh, and partly in that of Cornsay, the road which runs through the village being the boundary. The village has a lovely community feel with the hub being our local pub The Royal Oak. Back in the day it was a bustling place to live with a house for every day of the year as one of the elders used to say. It was thriving with Ferens & Love being the local brick yard where most of the villagers worked. If you have time please read through the book that lives in Apple tree Cottage ‘IN SEARCH OF A LOST DURHAM MINING VILLAGE’ which was written by a past resident. It makes good bedtime reading and gives an insight to village life here in Cornsay Colliery. Commercial Street as the name suggest was once a street of thriving businesses with the homes of the villagers being opposite please refer to the book. We have lots of things to do and historic places to visit from here. It is a cosy cottage in the countryside, rural but close enough to travel. It is most certainly a brilliant base. straight opposite the cottage is a children’s play park and a great woodland walk area which has a stream running through offering endless hours of fun. We are within easy reach to the beautiful Cathedral city of Durham as well as Newcastle and Sunderland all of which boast fantastic bars, restaurants, coffee shops and shopping. LOCAL ATTRACTIONS Include Kynren, Diggerland, Beamish Open Air Museum, Hall Hill Farm, The Sage, Durham City, Luminaire, Seaham beach and the famous Tommy statue, Metro Radio Arena, Newcastle, Sunderland, Durham City, Bishop Auckland food festival, and the home of the GNR is not too far away. You are really spoilt for choice when staying at Apple Tree Cottage. PARKING Is available at the front and rear. More often than not their is ample parking at the rear as the parking is sometimes taken up at the front by the Royal Oak visitors sampling the most scrumptious food. Definitely a must whilst staying in the village. It has steak night on a Thursday does Fish Friday as well as the rest of the delicious menu and serves a very tasty Sunday Lunch> all meals can be eaten in or they deliver free of charge to the village. LOCAL AMENITIES Less than 2 mins away down the bank and turn left at the T junction is the village of ESH WINNING. Here you find everything you need from a Butcher, Baker, COOP, Newsagents, Post Office, Hairdressers, Barbers, Chinese, Fish Shop Pizza Shop, Chemist, Petrol Station, Mechanics Garage, Car Hire, Car Sales, and the Stags Head Bar/Restaurant. There as some different faith churches in the village with Our Lady Queen Of Martyrs being the catholic faith and holding a service every Sunday at 10am St Pauls Waterhouses is Church of England and has a regular Sunday service.This is just one of the bustling villages local. We have a couple more fairly close villages one being LANCHESTER which is up the bank from the cottage around 5 mins away where you will find similar shops as well as an Italians, a quaint Gift shop, Bridal shop, Hat store, Physiotherapist, Coffee shops and the Kings Head bar/restaurant. It is here on the outskirts of Lanchester you will find Hall Hill Petting Farm. On the way to Lanchester you will pass the Garden centre which does beautiful cakes and food as well as having a well stocked gift shop which sells locally sourced fresh produce as well as sweets and ice cream. Potters World which is connected to Lanchester Garden Centre and is home to a tropical village showcasing exotic free flying birds reptiles invertebrates amphibians insects and fish in a jungle like setting. They have birds of prey aviaries with a chance to get up close and personal with some of the most beautiful species of owls and Birds of Prey. They accomadate the little children too in the Little potters play tunnel, the perfect indoor and outdoor educational space that allows children to explore and wonder at the world around them. they also have a fabulous duck pond that brings hours of entertainment. the Next Village of LANGLEY PARK is less than 5 mins away up the bank to the very top of the hill turn right all the way down the road past the beautiful Quebec T Rooms and at the children park turn left, follow the road and Langley Park awaits you with similar shops to the other 2 villages. However here you will find Diggerland the home of the JCB where adults and children can enjoy the day riding on real diggers children can only dream of.
