From historic landmarks to nature preserves, Stonington Village and its surrounding area offer a wealth of attractions to explore and enjoy during your stay.
-Stonington Point: Take a short stroll down to this scenic peninsula from which you can view both Fisher’s Island,NY and Watch Hill,RI. Soak up some sun or splash in the water at Dubois beach while enjoying the sailboats drift by.
-Old Lighthouse Museum: Learn about maritime history of the region with a visit to this charming museum housed in an historic lighthouse.
-Water St: the main street in the village is home to numerous art galleries, antique stores, boutique shops and restaurants. You will also find a liquor store, ice cream shop with allergen-friendly options (seasonal), a library, and a coffee shop.
-Fishing Docks: Stonington is home to one of the oldest, and the last fishing fleet in CT. There is a small stand to buy seafood, a playground, and a kayak/paddleboard launch. If you happen to visit during the holiday season, the famous Lobster Trap tree is not to be missed! Built from over 400 lobster traps and decorated with buoys painted by local children and artists.
-Velvet Mill: A short drive or 10-15 minute walk away is this spacious factory turned multi-use space which includes shopping, restaurants, a brewery, yoga and fitness studios, massage parlors and every Saturday year round a local Farmer’s market. Look for special, seasonal events during the holidays!
-Mystic Seaport: Immerse yourself in the seafaring heritage of New England with a visit to this living history museum, featuring historic ships, exhibits, and demonstrations.
-Mystic Aquarium: Discover a world of marine life at this renowned aquarium, home to beluga whales, sea lions, penguins and more.
-Mystic Village and downtown Mystic: Explore the many unique shops and boutiques the Olde Mystic Village and downtown Mystic have to offer. Visit the famous Mystic Pizza Restaurant where the movie was filmed or indulge in a treat at Siift Bakery. Dining options abound in both locations.
-Westerly, RI: About 20 minutes east you will find Westerly, RI, also home to many unique shops and eateries, the beautiful Wilcox park, and the United Theater.
-Watch, Hill: Notoriously known for being the location of Taylor Swift’s seaside House. Along with shops and restaurants ,here you will find one of the world's oldest and most beautiful carousels (as a matter of fact, this flying horse carousel has seen five generations of your host family!)
