Paul and Jane were amazing hosts. They personally met us when we arrived. They gave us an overview of the hiking and biking in Acadia, were always ready to respond to our questions and were so helpful during our stay. Their restored barn is well decorated, comfortable and well stocked with a basket of food. We had a wonderful time in Acadia, thanks to Paul and Jane. We will be back!
Jane and Paul are the best hosts! The property is beautiful and maintained by Paul who has to be a master gardener as the landscaping is beautiful. Everything was gorgeous and full of history. There was a wonderful map with accompanying guide of hikes around the island with various difficulty levels that Paul put together. Everything you could need is available in the kitchen including shopping bags and a picnic cooler bag. There is a super cute general store and a couple eateries right across the street but it was also quiet and relaxing and I really enjoyed reading on the screened in porch while the kids played in the backyard or at the nearby park. Very quick and easy access to Acadia Park and downtown Bar Harbor. My sister’s family stayed in the other side of the “barn” and it made for great family time as well as privacy. We’ll absolutely stay again when returning to Maine. Thank you Jane and Paul!
Jane and Paul were wonderful hosts full of helpful information. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome and informed. The North Barn was unique and beautifully appointed. The hosts’ attention to detail was outstanding with additions of extra plugs, a bench in each bedroom, soft throws, snacks, park maps, etc., The furniture was comfortable and nicely grouped. The outdoor living areas were amazing with views of the lovely gardens. The house was conveniently located with easy access to both Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. Our stay was amazing! We will definitely look to book this Airbnb the next time we are in Bar Harbor.
Wonderful porch….we sat there every evening and had breakfast there every morning. The only negative is that the bedrooms face the road and you hear traffic….otherwise it was perfect. Jane had a few breakfast items for us on arrival. She also has a convenient laundry hut nearby. The property is about 15 minutes to Acadia and Bar Harbor.
Jane and Paul were amazing hosts who went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience in their home and in Acadia. They were so generous with their advice and so knowledgeable . When we arrived, Jane and Paul greeted us, gave us pointers and provided us with groceries. Their place was beautiful, comfortable and immaculate!

My husband, Paul and I both grew up in large, warm and open Southern families, with parents who welcomed everyone under the sun to join us for dinner, backyard picnics, homemade ice cream, and of course, holidays. By the time we were all rolling through university -- all of our college friends who didn't have a spot to land for the weekend or for semester breaks came home with us and joined the fun. Our world revolved around interesting people who thoroughly enjoyed a good laugh -- and a good time. When we married, it was second nature to us to continue the traditions we were brought up with and invite exchange students, visiting teachers, nieces and nephews, mothers, aunts and siblings to spend a week, a few months, or many years with our family in Atlanta, Georgia. And what a rich and wonderful life our family has had as a result! I spent my twenties living and working on Mt. Desert Island, off the Maine coast. I brought Paul to the Island soon after we married, but we made our home in Georgia. We spent 34 wonderful years in Atlanta, but Maine is where my heart is. My friends of 40+ years have welcomed Paul into our circle here. We all bike, hike, swim, kayak and picnic together in the summer. In the winter, it's all about snow-shoeing, cross-country skiing, potluck dinners and long evenings visiting by the fire. This is our world and we treasure it. So....we've decided to combine our love of people, our love of place and the great joy we get from connecting with interesting folks to create a special space for people who venture to Maine to explore Acadia National Park and Mt. Desert Island. We're all about building connections: to friends, to the community, to the magical adventures the Island has to offer. Paul is a designer and an accomplished builder, who restored old houses and built new ones for over 25 years in Atlanta. I've spent my career as an HR executive, consultant and communications specialist. We've completed renovations on our 1847 farmhouse. Paul has converted our old barn into two apartments -- a pretty amazing transformation. We have plans to build additional cottage dwellings on our property. Our project keeps us busy and happy, and is the beginning of that little pocket community we've long envisioned.
