The 'Bear Den' has two XL twin bunks (4 beds) in a large room with a shared bathroom. Rate is $100 per person, per night. Home-made breakfast included. We operate a 3 bedroom Bed and Breakfast. When booking this property understand you are purchasing a single bed. This is not an entirely private property; there may or may not be other guests at the B&B during your stay. This listing is for one person in a 4 person bunk room. Mary Kay and Steve were great company! They entertained us with stories and made us feel right at home. Mary Kay made sure to have a delicious breakfast served before we set out on our day every morning, and gave us excellent advice about hikes and trails near by. I would definitely stay here again!
I was only there a short while, but Mary Kay immediately made me feel like part of the family. She skillfully guided me in where to visit and where to eat, and helped me logistically. She even coaxed a few locals to show me around some fascinating places normally missed by most of the fishermen fly-ins. Her place is within reasonable walking distance of much of the town. Her breakfast consisted of waffles with fresh-picked blueberries, whipped cream, and five incredible home-made syrups, some made of berries I had never heard of before. I only regret I can't give her B&B SIX stars.
The place is even better than expected. Many lodging in a town like less tourist-oriented town like Yakutat would feel more “corporate”, but the hosts at this Airbnb are generous and driven to make your visit fulfilling and comfortable. Prices are reasonable (especially for an expensive fly-in village), and a heavy internet connection is more freely available than other more-remote towns. Beds are comfortable, and its temperature is pleasantly cool or warm as needed.
Mary Kay at Anglers Rest was the best host! She took great care of us and her other guests by providing us with fishing hot spots and making awesome breakfasts. She literally opens her house to you and was willing to share anything she had that we may have left behind. We had 4 men in a small room with 2 bunks that was too small for us but we could overflow into the kitchen and dining/living room so we weren't tripping over each other too much. We had access to everything we needed to process our fish and would certainly stay here again in the future!!
I was very happy to have chosen the Anglers rest. Mari was spectacular, attentive, kind and welcoming. I loved!

Rustic cabin with WORLD CLASS FISHING! Nestled in a quiet neighborhood on the edge of Yakutat, this is a great winter destination for any steelhead angler on the Situk River. Reds (sockeye) are hot in June/July, and silvers (coho) will have your line buzzing in September. Charters can be arranged for those wishing to fish Yakutat Bay for salmon & halibut. We are located 1/2 mi from town, 8 miles to Upper Situk River, 12 miles to the Situk Landing.
You will need to rent your own vehicle from Leo's Vehicles or Situk Leasing. There is plenty of parking available.
