The Cabin in the Woods is tucked away in a secluded woodland location in the midst of nature with a private outdoor bath and a sunken firepit that doubles as a BBQ for cooking under the stars. We designed the space to encourage a balance of indoor/outdoor living to make the most of the tranquillity. A babbling natural spring and birdsong provides a natural soundtrack for most of the year while regular passers-by include deer, pheasants, owls and buzzards. The Cabin is simple but beautifully appointed and has been designed to help you wind down, switch off and recharge - an oasis of comfort in the midst of nature: * a king-sized bed with luxury linen - and woodland views to die for * a proper bathroom - flushing toilet and a powerful hot shower. * a cabin kitchen (hob, fridge, sink & microwave) - to rustle up culinary delights or heat the takeaway! * a cosy electric "wood burning" stove to set right the mood * a high-speed Wifi connection, Sonos and Smart TV - for when the weather doesn't play nice! The Cabin itself overlooks a wood just moments from the Monarch's Way footpath and a 10-15 minute walk through country lanes from the long-distance Test Way with the Clarendon Way close by. Our rural location isn't well served by public transport so you'll need a car to get here but be sure to bring your boots, bikes and binoculars to enjoy the best that the Hampshire countryside has to offer. The Test Valley is famous for some of the best fly fishing in the world but its also home to some wonderful downland walking and cycle ways. We're in open countryside about 3 miles from historic Romsey (home to Broadlands, Mottisfont Abbey and Fishlake Meadows Wetlands Reserve) with several great pubs and a village community shop within easy reach - yet only 15 minutes drive from Winchester, Southampton, or the New Forest. Let us know if you have a particular interest in fishing The Test, bird watching, local walks or cycling routes, or places to visit for food and treats - we'll do our best to share the latest local info to help you make the most of your stay. This is an absolute gem of a little getaway. Tiny but perfect, the cabin has everything you need. Outside area is cleverly landscaped, with decking that leads to a lovely bath that gets piping hot water. There’s a fire pit which you can cook over. We roasted chicken over the fire pit, and drank champagne in the bath tub while looking at the stars. Truly bliss. Inside the cabin is smart and modern but homely. There’s a comfy bed, smart tv, hot shower and all the usual kitchen appliances and homeware you’d want - all brand new and stylish. David is a kind and wonderful host, going above and beyond with crystal clear directions and helpful tips. We can recommend checking out the local town of Romsey, which is charming, and Avon Bay - book into the Noisy Lobster for the best seafood directly on the beach looking out to the Isle of White. What a fabulous find this was! Stunning location, so peaceful and private yet only a couple of mins to drive to local pubs and supermarkets. Lots of lovely walks around too! We ADORED this cabin!! Beautifully put together and styled and spotless. The outdoor bath, firepit and fairy lights felt so special, a really nice touch. David & Sara have clearly thought of everything. Communication was second to none, our lovely hosts were super helpful, friendly and just a delight to deal with. We felt very well looked after. Very rarely do we go to the same place twice but we are already looking at dates to come again!
Our short break in this little, tranquil corner or the woods absolutely exceeded our expectations! From booking to leaving the property, communication was great, full of all the necessary information along with useful local recommendations. Spending the evening in the outside tub was truly magic. Surrounded by candle light and the sounds of nature, drinking bubbles - it really was the most romantic setting and a night we will cherish forever! The Cabin itself was cute, super clean and full of everything we could need for our short stay. There seems to be lots of local walks near by had we stayed longer. I cannot recommend this little cabin in the woods enough if you are looking to rekindle the romance or just need a break from all the noise! Wonderful hosts, thank you so much.
