The City:
The City of London is a city, ceremonial county and local government district that contains the historic centre and constitutes, alongside Canary Wharf, the business district of London. It constituted most of London from its settlement by the Romans in the 1st century AD to the Middle Ages, but the modern area named London has since grown far beyond the City of London boundary. The City is now only a small part of the metropolis of Greater London, though it remains a notable part of central London.
The City features many dozens of (mostly Victorian and Edwardian) fine buildings, typically in historicist and neoclassical style. They include the Monument to the Great Fire of London ("the Monument"), St Paul's Cathedral, the Guildhall, the Royal Exchange, Dr. Johnson's House, Mansion House and a great many churches, many designed by Sir Christopher Wren, who also designed St Paul's.
A few small sections of the Roman London Wall exist and still intact, for example near the Tower of London.
Shoreditch:
Shoreditch is a district in the East End of London in Zone 1.
It has been known as an entertainment quarter since the 16th century, and today hosts a number of pubs, nightclubs and bars, while to the east of Shoreditch High Street and north of Brick Lane it is primarily a residential area.
The area straddles Old Street, Shoreditch High Street and west of Brick Lane, and includes Shoreditch Church, Boxpark and Hoxton Square. It lies immediately to the north and north east of the City of London and Spitalfields, and south and west of Bethnal Green.
By day and night, Shoreditch is bursting with opportunities to indulge in its variety of dining and entertainment options. Hipsters adore this eclectic pocket of East London flats, and many see it as the birthplace of English theatre and the cultivator of London fashion and street art.
Street artists flock from around the world to add their unique signature to the area, from the sea of stickers on Brushfield Street to the rainbow of colours down Brick Lane, and not forgetting the priceless Banksy etchings on Rivington Street.
Charles Dickens visited Shoreditch to gain inspiration for his works. Mr Micawber from ‘David Copperfield’ lived at Windsor Terrace on City Road, whilst Oliver Twist lived in South Shoreditch.
Old Spitalfields Market is one of the capital’s oldest markets, dating back to 1638 when King Charles gave a licence for ‘flesh, fowl and roots’ to be sold on Spittle Fields - a rural area on the outskirts of London. Today, it stands as one of the capital’s most eclectic markets, offering anything from fresh fruit and furniture to pretty pastries and antique collectibles.
Shoreditch is now considered a hotbed for creativity, originality and innovation, with more than 15,000 new businesses choosing to settle here and in the surrounding area of Old Street in 2014 alone—nearly five times the amount in Canary Wharf!

The famous Spitalfields Market and Brick lane are 5 minutes walking.
Liverpool Street, City of London, Tower Bridge, Tower of London, London Bridge, The Shard, Borough Market are walking distance.
You can reach Soho, Piccadilly, Trafalgar Square, Oxford Street, Covent Garden, Westminster, etc.. having a nice walk along the river, or in about 10 minutes by tube.
