Beautifully restored to a high standard offering up to six guests a high level of comfort and perfect for friends and family to enjoy a getaway in this a peaceful and tranquil setting. With oak floors and beams giving a feeling of calm and relaxation, the spacious sitting room invites you to curl up around the wood burner set within an inglenook fireplace and enjoy quality time with those closest to you. From the sitting room is a spacious dining room comfortably seating six guests along with a small workstation area should you need it during your stay. Take the seven steps down into the well-equipped farmhouse style kitchen, featuring a range cooker and utility room with WC. Perfect for muddy boots or paws and drying out your walking gear! The first and second floor offer three delightful bedrooms each with their own stunning views and sumptuous soft furnishings perfect for enjoying a Yorkshire morning cuppa in bed. Better still sink into a hot bath in the family bathroom and relax those muscles after a day spent exploring one of the many dales and villages in the surrounding area. Outside to the rear is a private courtyard garden from which you can enjoy al fresco dining during the warmer months, or catch the last of the evening sun in the small front garden whilst watching the sheep graze in the field across the road. Mae Cottage truly is the perfect destination for walking, cycling or just unwinding and watching the world go by, you can even leave the car behind and wander along to the 18th Century Inn just along the road. Additional Information An initial good supply of logs is provided. Two well-behaved dog welcome (small additional charge). Infants welcome, however please bring your own travel cot or high chair as these are not provided. Due to the nature of the cottage there are many steps through out the split levels. There is CCTV at the property.
Situated in Arkengarthdale a beautiful winding dale, on the edge of the Pennine Way close to the mid point of the Coast to Coast, and much local history Mae Cottage is a walkers paradise, in the North East of the Yorkshire Dales National Park an excellent base for exploring the area. The CB Inn is a short stroll away.
A 15 minute drive over the rugged moor is the Tan Hill Inn, Britain's highest pub, serving delicious food, a meeting place for walkers and cyclists.
The small town of Reeth just a 5 minute drive away, here you will find pubs, a shop, bakery and ice cream parlour.
Take a moor land drive North to Barnard Castle home to The Bowes Museum the jewel of beautiful Teesdale and is a hidden treasure, head a little further you will find Raby Castle one of Engalnd's finest medieval castles and Deer Park.
A 30 minute drive East is Richmond, a thriving market town with eateries a plenty. Galleries including celebrated Yorkshire artist Lucy Pittaway its very own Norman Castle, Richmond Castle with spectacular views overlooking the fast flowing river Swale; The Georgian Theatre Royal the oldest working theatre in its original form; and The Green Howards Museum, telling the fascinating story of this distinguished regiment. Grab a bite to eat or watch a film at The Station.
