Our cottage is located in the idyllic rural district of Hautere with easy accessibility from Wellington. It's great place to take a peaceful break from the city and unwind amongst mature Totara trees and native birdlife - we are also hosting a family group of quails, a pair of tui, several kerereu and too many cheeky pukeko! It's a magic spot with 270 degree views overlooking the Otaki River valley, and a glimpse of the ocean. After you come up the long driveway towards Waihinau cottage you will see the main house, built in 1914 by the original French orchardists in Te Horo, and the newly-renovated cottage is right next door. You have your own large private flat lawn and deck, elegant new bathroom and full kitchen and large master bedroom with daybed seat to read a book beside the bifold window.

I booked for a colleague who said Fleur's place was fantastic, really nice place, clean, quiet and a beautiful location, and Fleur was really helpful.
We were looking for a nice getaway as newlyweds and Waihinau Cottage was the perfect place!! It had everything we needed and more. Fleur was a great host and we were treated to snacks and bubbles upon arrival. We will definitely be back when we need another weekend of R&R 😊

From the moment you drive up the tree-lined drive, you will be enveloped in something quite special. One of the loviest Airbnb's we have stayed, super clean, all the needed amenities , gorgeous decor, well thought out space, super comfy bed, excellent shower, cozy, private and peaceful, perfect hosts, with an added bonus of the use of the heated pool and Hot tub. Thanks to the hosts for the special touch of the bubbles and nibbles on arrival to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Also Rocco is a sweetie who pops over occasionally to say hi😊😊
