The 'Teacher's Residence' provides a double bedroom with exclusive access to a bathroom during your stay. There are no shared spaces.

A brief but extremely enjoyable stay with fantastic hosts. The place itself is an only 15 minute drive to Athlone and is itself located in the quiet, picturesque village of Ballynahown. The room is absolutely stunning and has everything you need for a wonderful stay (special touches of a personalised welcome sign and delicious muffins were a plus). The bathroom, which I had to myself, was massive and the property was spotless throughout. Sean and Kelly were outstanding hosts, so pleasant and extremely easy to contact. I look forward to staying again!
Seán & Kelly were fabulous hosts--very communicative and friendly! They went above-and-beyond to make the room welcoming for us, including delicious homemade snacks, even though we booked the place only a day in advance. They gave great recommendations for our evening in Athlone which is only a 15-minute drive away. They even introduced us to their local pub where we heard great trad, and it was only a one-minute walk from their home. We would absolutely stay with them again!
Sean is a gentleman and made my trip an absolute pleasure. Kelly was very welcoming also and great to talk to. Would highly recommend.

Ballinahown village is centrally located in the region known as 'Ireland's Hidden
He❤rtlands'. It is approximately 1 hour:30 minutes drive from Dublin Airport on the M6 (Westbound - Exit 8) and the N62 Athlone - Birr National Secondary route. It is approximately 1 hour:15 minutes from Galway City on the M6 (Eastbound - Exit 8) and the N62 Athlone - Birr National Secondary route. Athlone Town Centre is a 20 minute drive from Ballinahown along the National Secondary route, the N62, which passes through the village.
Ballinahown village is the ideal rural retreat for a single or multi day stay in order to explore the many & varied cultural, heritage, historical, culinary & social attractions the area & region have to offer such as, Clonmacnoise, Birr Castle & Demesne, Shannonbridge, Athlone Castle & Town Centre, Kilbeggan Distillery, Lough Boora Discovery Park, The Slieve Bloom Mountain Hikes.
In the village itself you'll discover a vibrant & welcoming community with nature paths as well as the local 'Village Inn' pub which opens from Fri - Sun at 6p.m. and Rosie's Village Shop.
Ideally guests should travel by private or rental car in order to maximise their stay in the area/region.
There is a Transport for Ireland (TFI) public bus schedule which services the village 6 times a day into & out from Athlone Town Centre as well as other tourist destinations such as Clonmacnoise, Birr town, Banagher & Shannonbridge. Bus Éireann route 72 Athlone-Limerick-Athlone also stops in the village three times a day.
A taxi/local hackney cab service is also available.

Kelly enjoys gardening, reading, creating ceramics and 'dabbling' in art, a retired goat shearer, who also loves walking and hiking.
