Enjoy easy access to everything from this centrally located apartment. It is a short walk to the university, downtown, the community forest and a quick drive to our local beaches and rivers. You have everything you need for recharging for new adventures you can find in our local guidebook. We are a family of 2 in the main house on the property and we will not disturb you unless requested. There are 2 separate private entrances to the apartment and a code key holder prevents entry issues! This spacious apartment allows inside and outdoor comfort. The 2 bedrooms with queen beds have soft cotton bedding and lots of pillows are available for you to find your favorite! The open concept kitchen and living area are contemporary in furniture and the windows allow lots of sunlight in weather permitting. Also, there are several majestic redwoods, the pride of Humboldt, on and around the property. The full bath has a handrail for safety, the towels are fluffy and absorbent and shampoo, body wash and conditioner are provided—even shower caps, dental floss and extra toothbrush’s! Relax on the down sofa and enjoy the 52 inch flatscreen TV with multiple streaming services (Netflix, Hulu etc.) to choose from. There are board games and puzzles to keep kids engaged. Whip up a quick snack or prepare a holiday feast in the complete and well appointed kitchen. Coffee, teas, cream, juice as well as a home baked breakfast bread and fruit are provided to make your first morning shopping free. Counter seating for three and a formal dining table (expandable if needed) provide dining options. In the outdoor area, through the French doors, are everything needed for a barbecue and/or fire pit relaxing evening —- as well as a large redwood picnic table . When in season, a small herb garden is available for your meal prep pleasure! This private sunny patio area has wonderful views of our local redwoods and our bird feeders will keep you entertained with our feathered friends, especially the hummingbirds!

Katie was a perfect hostess. She met us as we came in and gave excellent suggestions and information about the town. Lovely person. The thick towels and white cotton robes made the stay feel luxurious. Katie left us home-made pumpkin bread which was delicious! My only disappointment was that the place was a little dark. No sunny window to sit in and drink tea in the morning.
Katie’s place was clean, comfortable and quiet. She is a very welcoming host, the place had everything I needed and more, and the homemade treats and nicely-stocked kitchen made me feel very much at home.

Katie went way above and beyond as a host. First, let me tell you that I didn’t make this trip. My husband and stepson went to Arcata to tour the university campus. They told me that Katie met them as they arrived, and her place was fabulous. They each had their own bedroom, and they had a full kitchen. Katie showed them a gas BBQ, but they didn’t plan to use it. The location was just a hop, skip and a jump from the campus. I would love to keep her place a secret, but that’s not how this works. The thing that set Katie apart was that she stepped in and helped with a minor medical emergency. She generously invited my stepson on a hike and walk through the campus. She stayed in touch with me to let me know how things were progressing. What host does that? She also checked in with me when they got home to make sure all was well. If I could give her 10 stars for communication, I would. So, would I recommend Katie and her place? Most certainly!
What an amazing stay! Katie was so friendly and helpful throughout our stay. She showed us the place and always responded to messages if we had any questions. The place was very nice and homey. Lots of useful amenities for our stay and the side yard was so peaceful and relaxing place to hang out in. I’m so glad we chose to stay here and will definitely be back again!!

Choice Arcata residential neighborhood with large lots and many giant redwoods.
We suggest renting a car if you want to get out and see this special Northern California area. We have covered on site parking, lighted pathway and entry, one small step to enter and the apartment is single level.

I’m in my 60’s, mostly retired RN, multiple property owner, lived in Mexico with my guy 6 mo out of the year for 5 years. Now traveling a lot, and lucky to be happy, healthy and active. We hit the community forest trails at least 4-5 days per week for 5-10 miles and can’t believe how lucky we are to call Humboldt home.
