The Cool Cape Cod at the Capitol is located on the northeast boundary of DC in the community of Mount Rainier. The house sits along a 2-lane main road that sees a fair amount of car traffic so you will hear sounds of cars.
Mount Rainier is an artsy, multi-cultural, multi-national, quirky community. Our neighborhood might best be described as “transitional” as it still retains a bit of urban grit while also being a well-established community of long-time owner-occupied residents. Many young Millennial families choose to settle here for its diversity, proximity to the district, and artistic/hippie aspects.
For example, you can take a stroll for some fresh produce from DC’s oldest food co-op, The Glut, established in 1969 by some D.C.-area peaceniks aiming to undercut food distributors. Then get your prepared lunch at the neighboring vegan restaurant, Dodah’s Kitchen, followed by an afternoon African dance class just a couple of doors down at Lesole’s Dance Project.
If you are lucky you may experience being awakened by the sounds of crowing roosters or even encounter the randomly roaming flock.
Some may find our setting grittier, hippier, or more multi-cultural than they prefer, while others will love the bourgeoning creative culture here!
The nearest bus stop is right on the same block as the house. Depending on your destination it might be best to take the bus. There are 2 metro stations convenient to the property.
Rhode Island Metro Station is 1.5 miles, 5-8 min by car, 15-20 min by bus. The bus you will take is 1 block from the house.
Hyattsville Metro Station is 1.8 miles, 7-14 min by car, 14-21 min by bus. The bus stop you will take is 2 blocks away.
If you have a car, you can park and ride the metro. If you have no car, take the bus or an uber to get there.
