This beautiful property exceeded my expectations which were already high from all the glowing reviews! Annette,our host, was one of the most welcoming, thoughtful, gracious people I've had the pleasure of meeting. The quiet location of the property, natural beauty, privacy, attention to detail, board walk thru the wetlands with lots of wildlife, hot tub, porches with comfy swings, lovely beach and bay views are just some of the things you can look forward to here. The guest house was very clean and perfect, just the right amount of space with quality finishings and thoughtful design. It is wonderfully equipped with everything you need or want for an extened or short stay. I couldnt possibly mention all the wonderful details that deserve attention with this property. Myself, 2 teenagers and large dog stayed for 1 blissful month of relaxation, healing and joy. I haven't even talked about the fabulous town ! It was so lovely I am now considering retiring there in the future. Perfect!

The 2-BR, 2-1/2 BA apt. is on a no-outlet street so it's very quiet. It's above a 2-car detached garage which was avail. to us. There were fresh flowers on the table, and all the dishes, utensils, glassware and cookware we could possibly need (even a wine fridge). All appliances, including W&D and induction stovetop (wonderful!) are top-notch. Robes, lots of towels, a soaking tub and a shower, walk-in closets, memory foam mattresses and pillows plus duvets were appreciated. We enjoyed the smart TV, books, and jigsaw puzzles - we never do puzzles at home but when the weather was rainy (it was January) this was nice entertainment. Truly a turnkey property. John responded to all questions very fast which we appreciated. He and his mother, who lives in the house next to the garage, were gracious and accommodating. We often walked around the neighborhood, and dined with neighbors who'd just moved in. Fairhope is very welcoming, one of the friendliest places we've ever visited.

Arrived for a 2 months stay and felt immediately welcome with a full supply of condiments, a cold bottle of wine and nice touches like English muffins and jam. Loved the small beach area which we used for walking and seeing the sunset. Included parking in the garage which made this a great home away from home. We enjoyed the town but really liked to discover the gulf coast with easy distance to Pensacola, Mobile and New Orleans. Our host regularly checked in and provided local tips and events.

Look no further for a great vacation spot. John/Annette had the backhouse so clean, comfy, and fully stocked with everything we could have possibly needed. From puzzles & a candle to packs of english muffins & ziplock baggies, we only really needed to bring ourselves. The little touches of fresh flowers when we first came in the door too made us feel right at home. The sunsets are truly magical. The beach is on the bay and after walking down quite a bit of stairs (beware), you walk through a beautiful marsh that opens up to the water. Only negative I can think of at all is that the bamboo is taking over quite a bit, and I recommend wearing shoes while on the beach as stepping on the shootouts out the ground hurts! Our dogs did not mind though and had the best week of their lives running around. Truly though, we had the best week ever and are so grateful to have found Annette's home for future visits.

This is the second time we've stayed at Camp Whitaker and it is absolutely perfect for a quiet, peaceful getaway. The private beach has breathtaking sunsets every evening. My dog had as much fun as his humans as he got to run freely on the beach and swim to his heart's content. This is definitively my "happy place" and was exactly the recharge I needed. The location was conducive to seeing several beautiful beaches. We took day trips to Mobile for a food tour, Pensacola for the Island Hopping Kayaking tour, and spent a day at Orange Beach in Gulf Shores. Then we had days in between where we just lounged on the private beach. Great restaurants nearby offered amazing seafood, burgers, and desserts. It was just the perfect week.
