Tucked into the foothills of the Howgill Fells, beside the River Lune, Pool House is a grade 2 listed, renovated Farmhouse. The Dales Way/Lune ‘drop in’, is on the doorstep. We offer a ‘homestay’ experience for walkers/kayakers/peace seekers. 10 mins from M6 junction 37/38 Here you will find rest for your weary limbs, river dips for the brave, home cooked nourishment (2 course dinner an option) and a comfortable nights sleep in an ensuite double room, Howgills View and breakfast included.

We stayed at Liz and Steve's while walking the Dalesway as it is on the route itself, we broke our journey here after walking from Dent, before moving onto Burneside the following day. We spent a lovely meal and evening with Liz and Steve, we were made to feel extremely welcome and were fed beautiful homemade food. The house was warm, the shower was great and the bed was extremely comfortable - all things that were needed after a long wet day walking. We would definitely recommend breaking your journey here.
Liz and Steve are great, friendly hosts and our overnight stay was exceptionally enjoyable. We arrived as travel weary cyclists and left the next morning fully refreshed. We ate with the family in the evening, literally a God-send, and also enjoyed a hearty breakfast with our hosts. We would like to return but next to time perhaps not by bike!
Liz and Steve were so welcoming and friendly. I had a lovely meal with them in the evening. Exactly what I needed after a long day walking in the rain! Definitely recommend!

On a map it looks like we are adjacent to M6. Never fear! we are tucked in a sleepy hollow and there is no traffic noise. Just the sound of the waterfall in the gill. Easy 10 minutes drive from Jnct 37 (northbound) and Jnct 38 - Tebay (southbound). 15 minutes into Kendal, gateway to the Lakes, 10 minutes into Sedbergh, Book Town of the north (and gateway to to Yorkshire Dales) where you will find several pubs, cafes, post office, chemist, and other local amenities.
Plenty of local walks from the doorstep. The beautiful market town of Kirkby Lonsdale is a short drive and Windermere is 35/40 minutes.
Walking, kayaking, cycling or in your car! Parking is on our driveway. Please park on the field fence side and we suggest reversing in. We share our drive with our neighbours.

Hi! I'm Liz, married to Steve for 37 years. We have hosted many guests and lodgers when we lived in Coventry so we hope you will enjoy our hospitality in our new home in Cumbria. With views of the Howgills, the Dales Way and kayak ‘drop in’ on our doorstep, you’ll find a warm and relaxed home from home. There will often be guests around our table, with good home cooking and lots of laughter.
