Great for group visiting NYC

We had a wonderful stay at Mae’s! The neighborhood is older, though, and quite noisy, but the subway is a 2 minute walk away with very friendly staff! We found a great Mexican restaurant nearby, a mini-Target, a delicious bakery and a lively grocery store with great produce selection just down the street. The subway is 181st St and takes about 20-30 minutes to get to touristy places, but is totally doable. The apartment itself is 2 stories and slept 7 very well. The outer door was a bit tricky getting to unlock. Patience and a little love was definitely needed, while the apartment door code pad worked like a charm. We had a few things happen during our stay, and Mae was quick to help get things taken care of. The bedroom at the front of the apartment is right by the street which is noisy - all night long! The other bedrooms didn’t have this issue at all and everyone slept well. We were thankful for the washer and dryer as we were there when it rained. Great trip though!!

In the Washington Heights neighborhood of NYC, Mae's place comfortably housed our journalism students in mid-March. While the pictures seemed slightly exaggerated, we enjoyed our stay and had no problems. With Target and other markets around the area, we were able to bring food back to the apartment. If you're interested in street vendors and local shops, this is the place for you. It's also right around the block from the No. 1 train that will take you either toward the heart of the city or 242nd Street. We did have some issues with people rummaging through the trash cans in front of the bedroom windows early every morning, but hey, this is New York. While we will look for places closer to Manhattan next time, we were happy to be able to find Mae's place.
