I didn’t get to meet Mary but appreciated her checking in by phone to make someone would be there when we arrived. Don welcomed and gave us a quick tour around the BnB. The space was very well stocked. We had breakfast options and plenty of amenities. Bathroom supplies, lots of towels, comfy beds, with lots of pillows. It’s a cozy space with many paintings, statues and fun, artsy decorations. We arrived in the dark and it was raining in the morning so we didn’t get to enjoy the property, but the stream was flowing below the back yard and if we’d had more time we’d have taken a closer look. We originally planned to bring our dog and it is a perfect place for travelers with pets. Because our plans changed, the number of people coming was up in the air a bit. Don and Mary were gracious about the change of plans. It’s a great place to stay. It is near food and shopping but is in an “island of woods". The substantial space and a hedge blocking view to or from the road was a plus.

I was welcomed in person and given a tour of the property. I chose to spend the whole afternoon in the woods, relaxing. I was there by myself but it would be a great retreat for four adults.

In the sea of new cookie cutter fancy houses throughout Happy Valley, Mary’s place stands out as a special and welcoming home. It was very easy to make ourselves at home for our two nights there, and our toddler loved exploring the trail down to the creek and all the fun yard art, and the chicken coop. Mary even had the couch upstairs all set up as a toddler bed, with plenty of stuffies and pillows - it was very sweet and he slept great. The AC unit upstairs worked great in the early August heat. And there were so many ripe figs on the tree out front! Delicious!

Mary and Don were gracious hosts and very kind. They welcomed my well-behaved dog, and made sure we had everything we need. Bedding of quilts and linens were clean and beautiful.
