My friends and I had a lovely stay in Moira and Alex's cottage in Dunoon. it's a very tranquil environment with plenty of local activities and the perfect environment to relax and appreciate a peaceful setting in the Northern Rivers. freshly laid eggs were available for breakfast from the chickens on the property and everything we could have needed was available to and come and go as we pleased. It was a nice smooth process from check-in to departure. Thanks again for a lovely stay in Dunoon!
We stayed with our 5 year old twin boys, who are highly active. They enjoyed it more than we did and we enjoyed it quite a lot :) the location is peaceful and beautiful, town is small and cute, and accomodation was big enough to fit all our needs. It’s nicely renovated and quirky. The hosts are amazing. Alex took time out of his busy day to show us the whole property and pick fruits with kids. Had fresh eggs and friendly chickens visit us. Highly recommend for a family holiday. Local natural attractions are a bonus and it’s only 30 mins drive from beautiful Byron beaches :)
Maeve Gardens is a sweet hideaway, quiet and tranquil. A gaggle of friendly hens greeted us- my daughters loved cuddling them and we all enjoyed their eggs. Misty in the morning, quiet at night, birdcall through the day and sooo much space to explore!! We all slept comfortably, and enjoyed the well equipped kitchen, clean bathroom and cabin comforts. Great access to Whian Whian, Rocky Creek, The Channon e.t.c. or just a lovely excuse to retreat and do nothing. Moira is a warm and responsive host, welcoming and helpful. We had a really comfortable stay at Maeve Gardens and would recommend it for a weekends' respite or a longer stay writers retreat!!
We are 1km away from Dunoon, a small and friendly community who’s main business is growing macadamias. We have a general store for all your basic needs with bottle shop attached, a church, mechanic and a post office.
Turn right out the property and Dunoon Village is 1km away. Turn left and Whian Whian falls is 1km away in the opposite direction. This also takes you towards Rocky Creek Dam, Whian Whian State Forest and Minyan Falls, the most spectacular of all the falls in the region. This has an amazing walk.

I’m a Healing Therapist, Circus Coach and Yoga Teacher. My husband Alex is a Circus Director, Rigger and all round creative. We ran a circus school in london for 20 years. Now relocated to the northern rivers to run Maeve Gardens where wildlife and nature abound. I love my little family, healing others, meditation, teaching and performing aerials. We appreciate Mother Earth and all the wonderful things life in the northern rivers has to offer.
