The town of Meta welcomes the visitor and makes the place feel welcome back home with the panorama of the coast; among the first people you meet when going to Sorrento, after Vico Equense.
The name "Meta" is of very ancient origin: the Latin term means "border, extremity", but also "turning point, point where one turns".
Today, in place of a Roman milestone, stands the high bell tower of the Basilica of Santa Maria del Lauro which, in turn, was built on the spot where, it is hypothesized, there was a small temple, dedicated to the goddess Minerva which, not surprisingly, found its "correspondence" in the temple of Minerva on the Punta Campanella promontory, the extreme end of the peninsula.
In the Bourbon era, Meta finally knew its own strong identity thanks to the independence obtained from Sorrento, and stood out among all the "farmhouses" for its maritime tradition.
Today the Alimuri shipyards no longer exist, but in their place we find a beautiful and extensive beach, well known and frequented in summer by the locals and Neapolitans. Considered among the most beautiful and practical seaside areas of the peninsula, it is certainly a stop to consider during your stay.
What distinguishes Meta from other neighboring towns is certainly the sense of tranquility that you feel, especially walking along the maze of alleys that characterize the ancient historic center. It is fascinating to walk through the narrow streets, starting from Via del Lauro (an ancient downhill road in front of the church that leads to the heart of the historic center, Piazza Casale), admiring the ancient piperno portals of the noble palaces even from the Baroque era, such as Villa Elisa , Palazzo Fienga, Villa Liguori or Palazzo Maresca.
Another stop to make is certainly Palazzo Cosenza, better known as Villa Giuseppina, entirely designed by the architect Luigi Vanvitelli and built in 1739.
Location chosen by director Dino Risi who chose the palace as a film set for the film "Pane, amore e..." (1955) with Sophia Loren and Vittorio de Sica.
Meta, therefore, is certainly the ideal place to spend your holidays for those who love tranquility and want to immerse themselves in a bit of history!

DaMa house is located a few steps from the "il Casale" square where you can find mini markets, shops, bars and tobacconists.
About 50 meters away is the "Don Giovanni" restaurant where you can taste pizza and other typical local dishes.
The beach is 10 minutes away on foot but can also be accessed thanks to the municipal lift 5 minutes from the apartment.
Near the lift you will find the bus stop that connects Meta to the various municipalities of the Sorrento peninsula and which also allows you to quickly reach the train station.
