Dexter is easily accessible from the A1 and A66, though you wouldn't tell with the far-reaching countryside views. A mile away is the pretty village of Ravensworth, known for its good village pub, The Bay Horse, and the remains of the 14th century Grade I listed Ravensworth Castle near the village green.
