If you are looking for a quiet, private place to feel at home while exploring the Alpujarras and still experience a sense of communal living, our Finca may just be a great fit for you! We live in a unique home, a curious labyrinth of Casitas, passages and outside spaces. Only 20 minutes drive away from Orgiva, some on a mountain road, we are on the edge of an incredibly stunning remote valley. You are welcome to make this your exploration base or choose to seclude and relax the entire time! The Loft is part of our Cortijada and it will be your private space while you stay with us. You will have a Queen size bed in the loft. It's a very cozy space to sleep. The kitchen is colorful and is a great size, built in a traditional Spanish way, meant to protect you from the heat of the summer. You also have a dedicated office area. It is fully independent and although we will be close neighbors, you get to choose the level of interaction that you would like. Our Cortijo was Initially built following the shape of the mountain, as a cluster of dwellings both for humans and animals. Following renovations over the past decades, by combining old traditional building methods with some natural new and old materials, we have today this unique labyrinth of spaces with equally unique interiors, carrying different names and pieces of the mountain within their walls, as visible boulders. The road that leads to our house, follows through into a beautiful valley. No more than two hand full of cars pass by on a regular basis. We are 2 permanent residents living on the property, in our own private spaces, while receiving guests in 2 other dwellings, the Loft being one of them). Our small spring water pool (aprox. 4 x 4 meters) is in fact an "alberca", which is traditionally part of the irrigation system. This is a great way to enjoy the sunset, or dip through the heat of the day. Currently, we are working on making our other larger alberca a more pleasant swimming place, and it may just be ready by the time you arrive! (if this is important for your stay, please make sure to check with me before we finalize the booking). This is a magic spot, hidden and more shaded and we are looking into natural ways to maintain both of those spring water pools. Our flower gardening project is still developing with the seasons and down below we have an olive and fruit (orange, lemons, loquat) tree orchard, that you are welcome to enjoy in season.. Behind the house, just the mountain. Further more, we are still busy working on the property so we have some renovations going on. The impact on your stay should be minimal. Please ask any questions you may have if this is of any concern for you. We are located up the mountain, about 20 minutes drive from Orgiva. Just past our house, the road goes into a beautiful remote valley... walk to the river, admire the view, meet the wild goats, harvest clay, spot an eagle, or find green oasis full of color and bird sounds. You can drive to Orgiva but also walk on the paths across the mountain and along the acequias to get there. Close by, you can access the GR4121 hiking trail, and there's an abundance of unmarked trails everywhere around us. We do not have TV's. We have high speed WIFI connection, suitable if you are looking to work from home. You can choose the level of interaction you are comfortable with. We are neighbors and also we have a very independent living arrangement.
