This is a private cabin at Elk Point Lodge- a peaceful and secluded resort tucked in the pines on the eastern shore of Vallecito Reservoir - the quiet side. There is convenient free lake access from this cabin. Cabin 5, the Wilderness Cabin, is our largest with 3 bedrooms and plenty of room. The fun retro decor highlights our amazing location within the San Juan National Forest and the majestic area wildlife. The large new deck has room for the whole crew to relax and take in stunning views. This cabin sleeps six between two queen beds and two twins. The living room has plenty of couch space and a wood stove for those cool mountain evenings. With a full kitchen and a large dining table, this is the perfect cabin for families and larger groups looking for the quintessential lake vacation! -Roku tv with Netflix and Hulu included -Bathtub -Propane grill -Fans provided but NO AC

The porch the view, and the lake were perfect & peaceful. The inside was really comfortable for 2 couples, with cozy couches and cute decor. The vintage Smokey the Bear S&P shakers made me smile as soon as I walked inside. Everything was nice & clean. The surrounding landscape is beautiful, and I loved everything about my stay. The host & hostess were so friendly too. I hope to come back again bc this was one of ky favorite vacations.
Beautiful location, but for the money it was a very simple cabin. Some things could have been better, like a few fans since there is no cooling, a coffee pot that doesn't take 40 minutes to make a pot, a decent kitchen knife, etc. At this price point it's reasonable to expect things to be a bit nicer.

Very quiet side of the lake. A little tricky to walk down to the water but very doable:)

Here "on the quiet side" of the lake we are backed up to federally protected forest lands, so many of your neighbors will be local members of the wildlife community! We also have several National Forest campgrounds nearby, as well as a few other cabins and private ranches/properties.
Along the western shore of the lake is where the action is. Highway 501 (the only way in and out of the Vallecito Valley by car) travels up the west shore where all the business are located, along with many homes. 501 then curves around the north end of the lake passing more neighborhoods, before curving around and down the east side and turning to gravel. We are two miles down the gravel portion, which is well maintained.
The nearest restaurant/grocery/gas is at the NW corner of the lake, four miles from our property. All fishing and OHV permits can be purchased at the marina on your way up the west shore.

Elk Point is a small, lakefront cabin resort on Vallecito Lake in the beautiful San Juan Mountains of Southwest Colorado. We are located on the eastern, "quiet side" of the lake making this a perfect spot for a relaxing retreat in nature. All of our cabins have a private bathroom, kitchen, and deck to enjoy views of the lake and the amazing sunsets.
