Whether you are here to relax or to have an adventure, our holiday rental is perfect for those that appreciate country spaces. Or view Riverwood Cottage Stanhope FB page. Riverwood cottage is an idyllic country retreat with quirky and comfortable decor. The cottage has been lovingly decorated to achieve a calm and relaxing place to unwind. There are two double bedrooms which provide sleeping space for up to five guests as one of the double bedrooms has a partition to accommodate an additional single bed. Every room has wonderful country views. You can also enquire about coming with extra guests by booking our Garden Glamping listed separately. Please contact us prior to booking if you wish to bring your own bedding and towels as we will half the cleaning fee for this arrangement.

Julianne’s cottage is a beautiful retreat if you are looking for a tranquil base to explore the beautiful areas of Weardale and Teasdale. The cottage is well equipped and comfortable and even better than the photos. Julianne was helpful and responsive and we would highly recommend a stay in this cottage. We hope to return ourselves one day.
Our stay was absolutely lovely - the cottage was exactly as described and very easy to find! We had a slight problem connecting to the Wi-Fi initially, but not half an hour after we’d mentioned it, Juliane’s partner came round to help fix it and get us all connected. Lovely hosts, lovely location and lovely cottage!
We had a great time at 4 Railway Terrace. It is a lovely cottage and has a secret bedroom!! I would really recommend it.
The house is in a breathtaking setting. Watching the ebb and flow of the river was a talking point for us all each day. The walks around are glorious. The cottage was perfect, homely, comfortable and we had a very happy stay. It had everything we needed and more.Julianne and Peter were lovely, kind and helpful. I would recommend this cottage with no hesitation.
Julianne is a very good host. She is friendly and delightful to talk with. She is a keen gardener and the cottage has lovely outdoor areas. Everything we needed was included in the cottage, which Julianne has decorated for comfort and coziness. The area of Weardale is very beautiful, with roads and lanes heading off in all directions to other beautiful places and over the moors. Nice pubs and restaurants are within easy distance. We highly recommend Julianne's lovely cottage as a great place to stay. We simply LOVED it.

The immediate surrounding environment is great for walks by the river or through the fields. Stanhope has open air swimming which is open seasonally.
The Weardale way walk can be joined from directly opposite the cottage.
There are local pubs in Stanhope and in the surrounding villages.
Stanhope has village shops , pubs, takeaways and cafes.
There are small play parks in each village locally. There are country parks and reservoirs such as Derwant reservoir, Tunstall Reservoir and Hamsterly Forest nearby for those that like exploring natural environments. The seasonal Kynren show is not too far away at Bishop Auckland. The Weardale Railway service has reopened and runs from Stanhope. The timetable details can be found at Weardale Railway Trust.
