The Chapel's House is located on a rural property just 8 miles from Historic Honesdale, PA. There is a former chapel next to the house with some beautiful stained glass windows. Photography by David Jackman Studios. Recently fully renovated, The Chapel's House is the perfect getaway for two. The chapel itself has not been renovated but you are welcome to take a look inside. The house is well equipped with new amenities: electric stove, full size fridge, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, Keurig coffee pot. Cookware and utensils are provided if you would like to prepare your own meals. On this rural property you may see some of the local wildlife: deer, turkey, geese, ducks, squirrels, rabbits, hawks, possibly a bald eagle or two, and the occasional black bear. It is a delightful place for you to enjoy each season in all its beauty. Whether you are looking for adventure skiing at one of the local resorts (Elk Mountain or Montage), dining at a variety of restaurants / microbreweries in Honesdale, or just interested in having a break in a rural area, The Chapel's House location has something for everyone. It is an easy two and a half hours drive from NYC or the northern suburbs of Philadelphia.

Very beautiful property and very clean comfortable home. We had everything we needed.
We had a wonderful stay at the Chapel's House. It was the perfect weekend get-away, but I'm sure it would make a great vacation for any length of time. We especially enjoyed the private and easily accessible hot tub, even on the chilly, windy, days. Catriona was very thoughful and checked in with us via message through the AB&B app to make sure we were enjoying ourselves and that everything was going well. We hope to return again the next time we feel the need to get away from it all for a few days.

This place was a perfect, private spot for a weekend getaway. We were about 40 minutes away from Elk Mountain Ski Resort and 30 minutes to downtown Scranton. There were also some great nearby spots to check out had we had more time. I thoroughly enjoyed the home, it was neat and organized with a lot of space. The home was super clean and there were great amenities from the hot tub, to the sauna, to the grill, and the pool table. We loved the wall mounted gas fireplaces and the views of the lake near the house. There was plenty of parking and a really cool tree sculpture in the yard. We were looking for a quiet place outside of Philadelphia and this was a great home to use for a peaceful weekend. Catriona was very attentive and made it easy to settle in comfortably.

Honesdale (just 8 miles away) is home to many buildings on Main Street that date back to the 1800’s. You will find antique shops, gourmet coffee shops and cafes, as well as an eclectic range of restaurants and eateries, including Vietnamese, Mexican, French, Chinese, American, Microbreweries, and Locally Sourced restaurants. The Cooperage hosts a farmers market and offers a range of instructive and entertaining activities. Other local attractions include the Wayne County Historical Society, the Dorflinger Glass Museum in White Mills, the Roebling Bridge in Lackawaxen, The Stourbridge Train Line, Prompton State Park, Varden Conservation Area, and the Lackawanna Coal Mine in Scranton. On Saturdays you can tour Moka Origins bean-to-bar chocolate factory and coffee roastery at the Himalayan Institute. The nearby D&H rail trail has several access points for walking, running, biking (bring your own bikes). Bethel Woods Center for the Arts is about one hour away by car. The Greater Honesdale Partnership has an excellent website for ongoing local events. Cherry Ridge airport is ten minutes drive away and offers scenic flights as well as instruction. There is an attached online guidebook for you to check also.
There is no public transportation in the immediate area. No Uber, no Lyft.

Catriona is originally from the UK, and her husband is from New Zealand. We have been full time residents of this area since 2000. We have travelled overseas quite a bit, and lived in some other countries. We now call this rural area in northeast PA our home and we look forward to meeting you and helping you with some local knowledge.
