Cherry Tree Cottage is a wonderful, charming & cozy place. We absolutely loved it. Siobhan & Lar were so nice, friendly, helpful & fun. We hated to leave this fairy tale cottage.
Thank you to Siobhan for being the perfect host! The cottage was as described. The location of the cottage was tranquil and serene and we loved spending time there! Siobhan made us feel so comfortable and welcomed and I would definitely stay here again! An idyllic place to stay for a relaxing getaway!
What a beautiful little retreat away from it all. The cottage is perfect for a few nights away. Siobhán is a fantastic host who was so welcoming, the stove was lit for us arriving which was just the best. A lot of love has gone into restoring the cottage and the gardens too. Such a cracking wee place. Thank you Treasa & Marco
The Isle of Doagh was once an Island, but over time, the channel between Doagh and the mainland silted up and it became joined to the mainland. When you're in 'The Isle' you really feel like you are 'away from it all'. There is a wonderful community feel to the area. Although you are really in the countryside, if you meet anyone on your walk, you will be met with a smile and conversation if you so wish! You can walk right around The Isle taking in the breath-taking views around every bend in the road. In fact, the Ballyliffin 10 Mile Challenge is located here every year - a 10 mile loop run/walk that begins in Ballyliffin, courses through The Isle (past our cottage), on to Lagahurry and The Castles, and back along Pollan Bay to Ballyliffin once again.
Having once been an Island, The Isle of Doagh is surrounded by beautiful beaches. Activities that you can do here include fishing, sea swimming, surfing, kayaking, paddle boarding, wind surfing and kite surfing.
McGinley's bus runs a daily bus service from Dublin City/Dublin Airport right up to and beyond Ballyliffin - check out johnmcginley. com.
Bus Feda runs a bus service from Galway City through to Ballyliffin during certain times of the year - check out busfeda.ie.
We are a 50 minute drive from the City of Derry Airport, a 2hr drive from Belfast International Airport, a 2hr 15 min drive from George Best Belfast City airport, and a 3 hr 40 min drive from Dublin Airport.
There is a very limited local bus service (locallink.ie), so having access to a car would be advisable if you want to explore beyond than the Isle of Doagh.
