Swallows Nest is a charming barn conversion in an idyllic part of the Worcestershire countryside offering a blissful place for families or friends to get away from the stresses of everyday life. Peaceful, rural location surrounded by fields Converted barn decorated in a traditional country style Gentle walks and challenging cycling routes nearby About the property One of three cottages housed within a red-brick barn conversion on a farm estate, Swallow’s Nest is an excellent choice for a countryside escape in Worcestershire. You will soon begin to relax as you settle into your rural location where you can walk across the fields to the private woodland or enjoy a picnic whilst watching the lambs at play in spring. If and when you feel like upping the pace, there are cycling trails nearby that weave their way across the county, whilst good days out by car include the riverside town of Bewdley, Warwick Castle, the Malvern Hills and the Cotswolds. Swallow’s Nest is the perfect base for a total wind down. Step inside this charming barn conversion and you’ll find an open-plan living area with a high ceiling and original wooden beams that perfectly complement the traditional, country-style decor. The living area comprises a well-equipped kitchen with oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer, as well as breakfast bar, a dining area with oak table and a lounge with two comfy leather sofas and a Smart TV. Underfloor heating throughout the ground floor is a lovely cosy touch, especially after a crisp winter walk. One of the bedrooms and the bathroom is also located on the ground floor, whilst the master bedroom is located upstairs. Both bedrooms have a super king-size bed with zip-link mattresses that can be set up as two single beds if that suits your requirements better. Outdoors there is a small area in the courtyard with a table and chairs for you to enjoy your morning coffee or pre-dinner drinks, or make use of the BBQ to cook up a delicious alfresco feast for lunch.
A beautiful place that’s been converted extremely well into what is now the Swallows Nest. Lots of thought has gone into the building and it is conveniently located for countryside and bigger towns and cities such as Droitwich, Bromsgrove & Worcester.
Lovely place to stay, clean, tidy and comfortable bedding. It was convenient for young children too even with children’s plates and bowls. My only even better would be more convenience items such as tea, toilet rolls, shower gel. Etc.
The pretty town of Bewdley is about 20 minutes away and is lovely for a leisurely walk alongside the River Severn, perusing the shops and waterside dining. Meanwhile, five miles away from the cottage is the market town of Droitwich Spa where highlights include the Salt Museum and Droitwich Spa Lido for open-air, saltwater swimming on a sunny summer’s day.
For some city life, historic Worcester is 15 miles away where plenty of attractions include the cathedral, the racecourse and The Commandery which was the Royalist’s headquarters during the English Civil War.
History-lovers will also like to explore Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare, as well as a host of the National Trust’s stately homes including Croome Court and Hanbury Hall.
For all-round family fun start with Churchfields Farm where you can sample homemade ice-cream. Family-friendly day trips include West Midland Safari Park, the famous Severn Valley Railway, Little Owl Farm, Warwick Castle and Cadbury World.
If you’re after a real adventure head to the Wyre Forest where you can feel the adrenaline rush of zipping along the high wires of Go Ape, or visit Upton Warren for water sports on the lake. With two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Malvern Hills and the Cotswolds, within easy reach too, there are plenty more opportunities for outdoor pursuits and long hikes through picturesque, unspoilt countryside.
A car is advised for a stay at Swallow’s Nest which is located a short drive from junctions 4 and 5 of the M5 and around a 25-minute drive from the centre of Birmingham. The rural location is not served by a bus route, however there are train stations at Bromsgrove and Droitwich, both of which are about 10 minutes’ drive away, and taxis can be pre-booked to take you between there and the cottage. For serious cyclists, there is access onto the cycling route that runs through Worcestershire.
