The Salt Shack is a unique and comfortable haven situated a stones throw from the beach. The owners purpose built the shack themselves, to a very high standard. It is furnished with everything you need for a friend’s retreat or a family get together. It caters for children wonderfully with it’s collection of toys and a huge sandpit with slide, so no need to fill your car with toys and ‘ride ons’, they have everything. The king sized or twin beds and the sitting area are very comfortable, the kitchen is well equipped and the large modern bathroom and en-suite have good showers and a bath in the main bathroom. The piece de resistance is the amazing outdoor space. We were lucky to have wonderful weather and enjoyed a bbq whilst sunning on the multiple loungers on the decking or hanging in the hammock. We also managed to catch the most beautiful sunset with a bottle of wine on the beach in the evening. The driveway allows for multiple cars which was a bonus. We enjoyed a trip to the tu

The Salt Shack is fantastic, a beautiful house is a great location; right near the beach and an easy walk to the Witterings too. The hosts have been very helpful before check in and during our stay, and are thoughtful in their welcome package and online guidebook. The house is spacious, immaculately presented and has lots of extra features to make is feel homely and comfortable. The garden is fully secure and a great space for kids and a dog. We love that The Salt Shack has been built by the family and thoroughly enjoyed our stay We’ll definitely be back

What an amazing place! The location is just perfect, very quiet and so quick to get to the beach and nearby cafés. The house is fantastic and worked so well for the 4 of us and our dog. It has everything you need and has been so well thought out. The garden is lovely and again very well designed. And finally a massive thank you to Karen & Steve for being such fantastic hosts, so responsive, so so helpful and just really lovely! Thank you for sharing your lovely place!

Beautiful property close to the beach, but nice and secluded. Very family and dog friendly, perfect for travelling with a toddler. Responsive and thoughtful host. A great few days away.

The Salt Shack was the ideal get away spot for a long weekend. It was well set up to cater to adults as well as kids - the outdoor sandpit and bbq were greatly enjoyed. It’s a beautiful house, a truly wonderful space to enjoy with attention to detail evident throughout (heating system, well stocked kitchen, soft towels, log fire, landscaped deck/outdoor area).

Hi, I’m Karen my partner Steve & I are your hosts. In the early 1980’s I started my career & trained as a chef, then pastry chef (I still love to bake & cook) & worked within the hospitality sector for over 20 years, I later became involved in sales & have always retained the love of hosting a variety of events including family gatherings, wedding receptions, garden parties & more. My partner, Steve, a builder who has lived & worked in the local area for around 40 years, also loves to cook & socialise. We have 5 adult children & 3 grandchildren between us & love a family get together whenever the opportunity arises. It was a natural progression for us to become Airbnb hosts, our aim is always to ensure everyone has the best time possible. Steve skilfully converted the top floor of our home to create The Loft, a fully self contained apartment with private balcony & walled courtyard garden just a stones throw from the beach. The Loft opened in July 2020 & has been welcoming guests since (Covid-19 allowing) gaining many 5* reviews. Steve & his building partner & great pal Mike (met whilst volunteering, helping to rebuild along the south coast of Sri Lanka after the devastating tsunami of 2004) designed & built The Salt Shack, which opened as an Airbnb in July 2021. We have welcomed many lovely family groups who have all awarded us 5* reviews. This beautiful eco style house is set within its own landscaped gardens, is 3 minutes walk from the beach, totally private, sleeps up to 6 & is children & pet friendly. Our continuing aim is to provide the best experience possible for our guests…whilst caring for our environment. We strive to surpass our guests expectations during their stay with the hope many will return.
